Eastlake Lacrosse: 5TH / 6TH WOLVES
|
5/6 TEAMS POST WINNING RECORDS
Both 5/6 Red and Black enter spring break with winning records. Both teams have gone 3-1 after their first four games. Victories have come against strong programs like Bellevue, Issaquah and Skyline. We have also formed our 5/6 Cardinal team of top players. The team heads to the Three River Shootout at the end of April.

5TH AND 6TH GRADE WOLVES
We will field two 5/6 teams this spring season. Each team will be divided equally taking into account number of players, grade levels, previous experience and position distribution.
The teams will practice once per week starting in January and expand to two practices in February. Once the game season starts in March, the teams will have one weekday practice plus their Saturday games.
We will compete in at least 10 games on most Saturdays beginning on March 8th.
Registration fees are $345.00 for the season. Registration includes a full Eastlake uniform and a reversible practice jersey. Most practices and all games will be held on turf fields at Eastlake High School. Players provide their own equipment including stick, gloves, shoulder pads, helmet, arm guards, cleats, mouth guard and cup.
Our coaching philosophy has these key areas of focus:
1. Teach sound fundamental individual skills, emphasizing proper technique and utilization of both the right and left hands.
- Throwing and catching
- Scooping - man/ball ground ball techniques
- Cradling - left / right / both hands / one hand
- Dodging - bull / roll / face / split / moving without the ball
- Shooting - generating power / faking / on the run / off the dodge
- Defense - checks / footwork / positioning / slides
- 100% effort / 100% of the time
2. Coach team play with the roles and responsibilities required to be an effective and cooperative teammate.3. Dedication to improvement: work ethic, practice, hustle, focus, attitude and leadership.
4. Teach game rules, equipment care, respect for opponents, coaches, teammates and referees, and safety on the lacrosse field.5. Make the experience fun and exciting so that players develop and maintain a lifelong love of the game.
PLAYING TIME
At the 5/6 grade level we support fair playing time for all players during games. At a minimum, players will play at least one quarter of each game. This assumes that the player attends practice regularly, is dedicated to improving his skills, and displays good attitude, effort and respect during practices and team activities.
It should be noted that some positions require more frequent substitutions. Midfielders are required to run the full length of the field and are substituted more regularly for rest. Goalies are in high demand and short supply! If we only have one goalie per team they will obviously play 100% of the time - might be a position new players want to consider!
