Eastlake Lacrosse: FAQs

Who can register for Eastlake Lacrosse teams?
We accept athletes from all of the feeder schools to Eastlake High School and from Eastlake High School.  For our youth teams, that includes elementary students attending Alcott, Mead, Smith, Blackwell, Carson and McAuliffe and junior high students attending Inglewood and some Evergreen students.  Students attending private schools or homeschooled students living in the Eastlake boundaries are also eligible to register, but there are some exceptions where the private school attended has a lacrosse team.  Contact us at eastlakelax@comcast.net for details on those exceptions. 

What teams does Eastlake Lacrosse field?
For the 2009 season (starting March 1st): Youth: One 3rd/4th grade team; Two 5th/6th grade teams; Three 7th/8th grade teams; High School: Freshman/Sophomore , Junior Varsity and Varsity teams.
 
What leagues does Eastlake Lacrosse play in?
Our youth teams play in the Boys Youth Lacrosse Washington league and our high school teams play in the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association league.   Our Varsity and JV HS teams are Division I teams.  

How do I register to play on an Eastlake Lacrosse team?
Registration opens October 24th 2008 for returning players and November 1st 2008 for new players.  Registration closes December 31st 2008.  To register click on forms, then download the 2008/2009 registration packet along with the Emergency waiver release or email eastlakelax@comcast.net for a registration packet. 

How is payment made?
You can pay by credit card during the online registration process.  Payment for high school athletes will be due after team selections are made (first week in March). 

 


What does it cost to play lacrosse?

The registration fees at Eastlake Lacrosse are as follows: 3rd/4th grade team $120, 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade teams $240, HS teams $375, Financial assistance is available for those in need. Varsity athletes will incur extra costs.  Team uniforms belong to Eastlake Lacrosse. Athletes provide their own equipment.    

What equipment is required to play lacrosse?
Lacrosse helmet (MS and HS players should purchase team helmet) – helmet must meet NOCSAE standards and have attached chin pad and chin strap, Shoulder pads, Elbow/arm pads,Gloves,Cleats,stick, Mouthguard, Cup. Optional equipment:  slash guards, kidney/rib pads Additional goalkeeper equipment:  throat protector, chest protection, shin guards (optional); protective pants (optional).

Where do I buy lacrosse equipment?
Breakaway Sports, with locations in Bellevue and Seattle, is a lacrosse-only sports store.  http://www.breakawaylacrosse.com/Athletic Supply, Redmond Sports Authority, Bellevue. And, there are many online vendors for lacrosse gear. 

 
If I register an athlete, is he automatically given a place on a team?
The number of teams we field is limited by field and coaching availability. For the youth teams, athletes will be placed on teams in the order their registrations are received.  If registration is full you may have the option to be added to the waitlist.  For the HS teams, athletes will be given an opportunity to attend tryouts for the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams, and placement on teams is decided after tryouts. 

When and where are practices held?
For youth teams, practices begin in February (with possible optional practices in January).  Practices are usually two nights a week, two hours a night (either 5 – 7 or 7 – 9) with occasional Saturday practices. Practices for youth teams are generally held on the Plateau, most often at Eastlake Community Fields, or East Sammamish Park.  For HS teams, captains’ practices, wall ball and conditioning begin in late September - check the High School home page for details.  Practices run 5 nights a week beginning with tryouts the first week in March. Practices for HS teams may be on the Plateau, at Marymoor, or at Perrigo. Click on the Directions tab on our home page for information on field locations.  

When are games scheduled? 
For youth teams, games are generally scheduled on Saturdays, occasionally Sundays and rarely mid-week, once a week, beginning on 1 March and continuing until the end of May. For HS teams, games are generally held mid-week but may be on weekends.  The first games are held two weeks after the season opens on March 1st.  The Varsity team will play 13 league games before playoffs begin.   The HS championship game will be held at the end of May at Memorial Field.
