Mission Statement
The East End Athletic Association is a 501(c)(3) qualifying, not-for-profit Pennsylvania corporation which promotes, finances and administers high quality athletic programs in the East End of the City of Pittsburgh.
Since 1999, the organization has been committed to providing children with the opportunity to participate in athletic programs common in the suburbs, but not found in the city. In addition to bringing together players from across the perceived borders of neighborhoods and schools, the organization works to create an awareness in its players that they are part of a broader, regional community in which working together as a team produces positive results.
East End founders, Jim Cauley, George Smith and Doug Campbell, are all lifelong residents of the East End. They, and the other directors, take care to ensure that the teams' coaches -- who are all volunteers -- are responsible, qualified adults, who respect the players and effectively function as teachers, offering the opportunity to participate in challenging, yet enjoyable, developmental athletic programs. In addition to coaches, East End also obtains or provides practice and game fields, uniforms, equipment, officials, paramedics, scheduling, registration, communications, and financial management.
