East County Winterball League 09
ECASA will be hosting the fourth season of the East County Winterball League this fall. Last year we had year we had nine 8u teams, twelve 10u teams, six 12u Rec teams, eight 12u Comp and nine 16u teams for a total of 44 teams. Our goal this year is to become bigger and better by expanding to a competitive and a recreational division in the 10’s and 12’s (maybe 16u).
Last season we added a new division in the 12u, this was the 12u competitive division. This was a big success and we look forward into expanding this too the 10u and maybe the 16u as well. We are adding these new divisions so each league can put one or more All-Star level teams together to play similar level competition. Non All-Star level teams could play in the recreational divisions. The Recreational division will be a developmental/instructional division. The success of these new Competitive divisions will depend on the commitment of leagues to play in them. We would very much like to have every East County League represented. If we could get each league to commit as least one All-Star caliber team, then we would have 6-8 teams playing at a higher level against good competition, which will help your league’s players improve. Our hope is that instead of the East County teams going to GSF, we could create a Winterball League, where the beast teams come to the East County to play.
ECASA is so committed to the idea of providing the best Winterball option available to your league we have made the deliberate decision to lower the cost of participation. The cost of playing in the East County Winterball League will be $150 per team, with an $80 refundable umpire forfeit fees. Your fees INCLUDE your game balls, scheduling fees and trophies for 1st and 2nd and participation pins. This is less expensive than GSF and features markedly less travel. Your teams will play approx ½ their games at your home field and the rest at other leagues in the East County. They only other cost to you would be $45 per double-header for umpire fees (we only use one umpire per game) and that will be paid on the field before every game.
Our hope is to create a fun, cost effective and competitive environment for you and your teams to play in that will continue to keep your players playing at the level of softball that they need to be successful.
We look forward to seeing you and your teams this year. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks,
