BRAVES BOUNCE BACK WITH 10-0 SHUT-OUT OVER CREEKVIEW JV
The Braves were back in action this morning in the Milton JV Invitational tournament at Creekview High School against the Creekview Grizzlies JV. Despite giving our metal bats a week's rest during the Perfect Game tournament last week, we picked up right where we left off in terms of outhitting our competition, this time by the talley of 14-2. The net result was a 10-0 shut-out that got the Braves back into the "W" column after two rough games this past weekend.

Offensively, the turnaround was evident in the Braves hitting .467 for the game, and #19 Ryan Murphy led the way with a perfect 3 for 3, 4-RBI outing that included a "Blast of the Game" DOUBLE and 2 singles. #16 Nathaniel Maggio and #12 Will Schnure each contributed a 2 for 3 effort as the Braves bats were sizzling in the hot morning sun. After a scoreless first inning that included back-to-back singles by #10 John Davis and #8 Patrick Schultz on two outs, #22 Jon Jon Banks led off the second inning with a DOUBLE to the right field gap. With one out in the inning, #12 Will Schnure then reached on an RBI-error by the Grizzlies right fielder which set the stage for an RBI-DOUBLE to the left field gap by #19 Ryan Murphy. Murphy then scored on an RBI-single by #11 CJ Brazil to give the Braves a 3-0 lead. Following a quiet third inning in which the Braves fell in order, we lit up the scoreboard for 4 more runs in the fourth inning on 5 hits. With one out in the inning, #16 Nathaniel Maggio shot a single through the middle and was moved to third base on a DOUBLE to the right field gap by #12 Will Schnure. #19 Ryan Murphy then recorded another RBI with a single to right field that scored Maggio. #11 CJ Brazil followed with a fielder's choice to set the stage for a 2 RBI-DOUBLE crushed into the left field corner by #5 Hunter Swilling. Swilling then scored on a single through the middle hit by #33 Stephen Wrenn to give the Braves a 7-0 lead. In the top of the fifth inning, we sealed the deal with 3 more runs on 4 hits to activate the mercy rule. #2 Sam Ayers, #16 Nathaniel Maggio, #12 Will Schnure, and #19 Ryan Murphy each stroked singles in the inning.

Defensively, #22 Jon Jon Banks recorded a 2-hit shut out through 4 innings with 1 walk, 3 hit batters, and 5 strike outs. #1 Nick Sexton then closed the final inning, giving up 0 hits and 0 walks with 2 strike outs. The Braves defense made all but one routine play behind the excellent pitching effort by Banks and Sexton.
