BRAVES BLANK LOVETT LIONS JV 9-0
The Braves traveled to South Forsyth High School for our third game in the Milton JV Invitational tournament against The Lovett School's JV Lions, and the end result was quite similar to our first two games in this tournament yesterday. The Lions only managed 2 hits against Braves' Ace #44 Jordan Brown while the Braves stroked 9 hits, including a SOLO HOME RUN (the Blast of the Game) by #33 Stephen Wrenn in the top of the fifth inning. Wrenn's dinger, his fourth of the season, traveled 335 feet out of the park in the thick afternoon air and landed 10 feet beyond the 25 feet tall centerfield fence. He finished the day a perfect 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI's.

Offensively, the visiting Braves began applying pressure on the Lions right out of the gate. Wrenn led off the game with an infield single to the hole on the left side that he legged out ahead of the throw. After stealing second base and moving to third base on a ground-out by #5 Hunter Swilling to the right side, Wrenn scored on a sacrifice fly to centerfield by #10 John Davis. In the top of the second inning, #22 Jon Jon Banks led off with a single to the right side that the Lions' second baseman gloved but was then unable to produce a throw. He moved to second base on a passed ball and then stole third base via an excellent jump off the Lions' pitcher. Banks then scored our second run on an RBI-ground out to the right side by #16 Nathaniel Maggio. In the top of the third inning, #12 Will Schnure led off with a single to the left field gap. Running for Schnure, #11 CJ Brazil then stole second base, advanced to third base on a passed ball, and scored our third run on a single ripped past the Lions' third baseman by #33 Stephen Wrenn. Wrenn then received a free trip around the bases on 2 stolen bases and a passed ball to score the Braves fourth run. In the top of the fourth inning, #19 Ryan Murphy led off with a 4-pitch walk and advanced to second base via a ground-out by #16 Nathaniel Maggio. Murphy then scored our fifth run on an RBI-single by #44 Jordan Brown down the right field line. Finally, in the top of the fifth inning with a 5-0 lead, the Braves scored 4 more runs on 4 hits to put the game out of reach. #33 Stephen Wrenn led off the inning with the aforementioned SOLO HOME RUN. Our other 3 hits in the inning were all singles of the bats of #5 Hunter Swilling, #10 John Davis, and #16 Nathaniel Maggio. #19 Ryan Murphy also recorded an RBI in the inning via a sacrifice fly to left field.

Defensively, #44 Jordan Brown shut down the Lions' offense with a 2-hit, complete game, shut-out on 78 pitches across 5 innings. Aside from their 2 hits, which came in the bottom of the first and fifth innings, the Lions only baserunners were the result of 2 walks by Brown, 2 defensive errors by the Braves, and a fielder's choice hit by the Lions.
