Jordie Smola(NY) - Monroe Community College
'07 Coastal Carolina, WWBA East Cobb Chase Grissom(NY) - Monroe Community College WWBA East Cobb '06 & '07, Ft Myers '06, Long Island '07 Lucas McHale (PA) committed to Penn St-Worthington ('06 WWBA 16u East Cobb and Ft Myers, Allentown, '07 Coastal Carolina, Syracuse) For those who don't know who Dunmore native Lucas McHale is, let us give you a description. Lucas is about 5'10 and 130 pounds soaken wet and has always heard that in order to get any looks you have to throw hard as a pitcher. He has a funky low 3/4 delivery with a fastball that comes in about 73-80 mph with a 58 mph curve ball. His fastball has a lot of tail to it, however, Lucas does something consistently that all pitchers shoot for --- he throws strikes and locates. While working a winter camp in Scranton, PA coach snusz came across Lucas and immediately thought he would be a good fit. "Lucas looked like a perfect change of pace guy who looked like he could give hitters a fit." Lucas pitched in '06 Ft Myers vs East Cobb and did very well. Coach Snusz said, "in Ft Myers Lucas pitched very well against East Cobb and kept many of their high level prospects off balance. He has always thrown strikes and battled through all the negative comments directed toward him. I am very proud of Lucas, because i saw what he went through. Even though he was 5 foot nothing and 100 and nothing, his heart played ten times that. Best of luck Lucas and congrats to the entire McHale family." Chris Fogleman (NC) committed to Felician College(NJ) (2006 WWBA Ft Myers) Cody Bentley (VA) committed to East Tennessee (2007 Coastal Carolina, '07 WWBA East Cobb, Long Island & Jupiter) Wednesday, April 30 Messmer to Youngstown State Messmer commits to Youngstown State Seton Hall Prep (NJ) RHP Ryan Messmer recently signed on with coach Rich Pasquale at Youngstown State (OH). Ryan played with the Grays at the WWBA Northeast Qualifier at Baseball Heaven. Coach Snusz on Messmer, “ Ryan has a very smooth and easy delivery and had very good command of his pitches.. he works with Silvio Censale (who is an old teammate with the phillies and who coached with me down in Jupiter) who is one of the top pitching instructors in the country… he is a quality character kid who will help them out as soon as he gets there.” The Grays wish to congratulate the entire Messmer family and good luck next year. Monday, April 21 Harbin (AL), Arcure (PA) and Miller (VA) Latest College Signings Harbin commits to Alabama Former Grays OF/RHP Glenn Harbin is heading off to Alabama to play for …. Nick Saban! Glenn has been clocked as high as 88mph on the mound, but the Mobile, AL prospect was also one of the top DE recruits in the country. He will try to play both football and baseball at ‘Bama. If Glenn plays baseball, he would see one of his teammates from the East Cobb tournament (Troy Sutherland) who signed with the Crimson Tide back in November. Coach Snusz on Glenn, “Glenn was recommended to me by former teammate and big leaguer Blake Stein, who coaches Glenn in Mobile… for his size he has one of the best approaches to hitting I’ve seen and was an absolute pleasure to coach.” Arcure headed to William and Mary Stephan Arcure from Scanton, PA has agreed to play at William and Mary. Steph attended tournaments at Coastal, East Cobb, Long Island and Jupiter. What attracted attention to him? Aside from being a sub 7.0 runner and throwing 90 from center, scouts noticed how he hustled on every play and never took an inning off. He also carried a 3.8 GPA and was a 1420 SAT guy as well. On Arcure, Coach Snusz adds, “Steph busted his tail every time he was on the field and he reminds me of (Pirates CF) Chris Duffy for how aggressive he plays the game…. He had a lot of attention this summer and I am glad he is finally set.” Congrats to the Arcure family! Alex Miller to Salisbury Alex Miller from VA has just notified us that he committed to Salisbury last week. Alex was a member of PG Teal that Coach Snusz managed at the WWBA World Championships in Jupiter. Coach said this about Alex, “Alex was a very strong defensive catcher who was consistently under 2.0 and a pleasure to coach.” The Grays congratulate Alex and his family!
