Quotes heard around the message boards about the game:
| |
Ohio county is laying the wood to Christian county currently. 20-6 2nd quarter. Sounds like the off week was a good thing for Ohio county.
|
| |
| |
NEVER underestimate a jacked up opponent with an extra week to prepare. Right, DragonFire?
Ohio Co. is whipping us up front. |
| |
| |
Oh wow....Murphy is a he&%uva back though....u have to wrap him up. He's not goin down easy!
|
 |
| |
Murphy just ran for 55 yds and a score--27-6. We're in BIG trouble, boys! |
 |
| |
Owwww....Really good game! -lol- Lovelace musta got in their **** at the half....I love it!!! |
| |
| |
Man that Murphy guy can play. Western, Murray State or Eastern KY one of these schools need to take a serious look at him. I don't care if he's not from Florida He can play at the next level and make a impact. Strong runner with low shoulder pad level.
Fun game last night. County took some major blows but did responded when needed. County plays/starts about 5 to 6 Sophmores and freshmen and seem to play to the opponents level. Need to learn that teams get up to play us and will give their best shot. Great
environment for football last night. Ohio fans should be proud of their kids effort, they gave it their all just came up a little short.sted o 9/30 9 |
 |
| |
Murphy's stat line: 38 carries for 218 yards and 3 td's (I think at the end of the first half it was like 20 carries for 150-160 yards), 3 receptions for 36 yards and 1 td. That is not counting the halfback pass he attempted late in game. Ohio Co rode their horse to the end and it almost worked out for them. |
| |
| |
Christian Co.,it appears, went into a very hostile environment against a fired up team with one of the best running backs in WKY |
 |
| |
Cody Murphy is one of the best running backs I have seen in a while, was impressed how he kept his feet moving and churning out extra yardage. Ohio County deserves a lot of credit for hanging in and working their game plan almost to perfection. This was a game Christian County needed, as it was the 2nd time in three weeks the Colonels trailed at halftime. They were tied with Lone Oak at halftime. |
 |
| |
Ohio County has improved in a tremendous way. Their freshman QB has three more years to get even better. Coach Todd Houston has brought the Eagles program around in a big way. The Colonels must get serious about the rest of their district games. Go Colonels |
 |
| |
Boy was i dead wrong about this one! This had 50 something to single digits written all over it and Ohio proved to everyone that they are for real. Must be a very well coached team. Hats off to them for an impressive effort. |
 |
| |
Good thing Owensboro High doesn't have to play Ohio Co this year. |
 |
| |
Some will say they don't believe in "moral victories," but this was an impressive showing for the Eagles. Congrats! |
 |
| |
There's not a team in Owensboro that would play within 4 pts of CC....Ohio Co. has proven alot tonight....

Letter to Community
OC Community,
Coach Houston says 'we are a team'. This season the fans have become such an important part of that 'team'. Homecoming night, the parking lots around OCHS and OCMS campuses were closed for lack of any more parking. What a great problem to have!
A big thanks to all you fans, community groups, and businesses that have supported our team throughout the season. From your attendance at games, to support in fundraisers like poster ads or contributions, buying restaurant cards to donating food and other items. It is all appreciated.
If you've never had a player in your family, then you might not realize the total commitment that this sport takes on the body, mind, and soul. Coach Houston mentioned on the Coaches Show that the week off in Sept. gives the team time to 'heal up'. The physical sacrifice that each player makes when he applies his brute strength and speed against his opponent is worth it if the team reaches it's goal. These are student athletes that give that effort and need to 'heal up'during winning seasons and struggling seasons. These are the players that stuck together and kept each other up through tough times and learned life lessons like one game at a time and that hard work toward a vision pays off.
Unlike other sports, football has much preparation and very few games. That's what makes Friday Night Football such an awesome experience. Anticipation as the team warms-ups to loud music, the long walk of captains as they flip the silver, then the cheering of fans as they speed through spirit line. Standing room only is a vision that feeds the players' adrenaline as the team makes the turn out of the spirit line and see you, the crowd. From Kick-off to the final buzzer- it is excitement.
Fans, your Friday night noise and encouraging words to the players, coaches and parents around town have given the team a feeling that they have given you not only entertainment for you weekend, but pride in our Eagle Athletes. Eagle Pride is contagious.
Catch it and spread it around. GO EAGLES !

Tommy Payton Night
Eagle Gridiron Program honoring Tommy Payton Friday night. He was a heavily recruited offensive and defensive lineman on the 1974 Eagle Squad. He was tragically killed in an automobile accident less than a week after Ohio Co.'s final game that season. At the post-season banquet, Payton was named "Most Valuable Player" as well as "Best Defensive Player." The Tommy Payton award has been given each year to an Eagle Squad member who best exemplified the qualities of effort, determination, and teamwork and was "the type of player every coach loves to have on their team." But despite the tradition of the award, OCHS had never officially retired his number.
Eagle head coach Todd Houston, on assuming the position four years ago, became aware of the award after ordering new team jerseys -- including 73--and sought information on Payton. The Tommy Payton Trophy, with names of all past winners inscribed now has a prominent position in the OCHS football locker room in hopes of inspiring current and future players to strive to be worthy of it. but Houston also felt it only appropriate to formally retire the number and this Friday night prior to kickoff as the Eagles host Caldwell Co., a ceremony will be conducted retiring Payton's number 73.
During the ceremony, scheduled to start at 6:40 Friday night, it is hoped that all former Tommy Payton winners will be on hand to be recognized by the crowd. Members of the Payton's family have also been contacted to be in attendance.
