2009 DYBL 7,8,9 All-Stars raise almost $4,000 for the fight against Muscular Dystrophy

There was applause, awe, and even a few tears as Manager Chuck Williams presented a check for $3,702 to Director Lori Woods at the opening ceremonies of the 31st Annual Peninsula Muscular Dystrophy Baseball Tournament held in Phoebus Virginia.

2009 7,8,9 All-Star Team

Last year's team set an individual team record when they donated $2,830 but the bar was raised as the 2009 team pulled out all the stops by hosting a breakfest at Beef 'O Brady's, a carwash at the Airport BP station, and a Sunday afternoon buffet at Bailey's Pub & Grill.  Although the team fell a little short of their $4,000 goal, they were extremely pleased with their achievements and, given the current economic conditions, did a remarkable job.  Denbigh's exitement carried over to the ball field where, Coached by Shannon Montgomery, Gene Smith, and Managed by Chuck Williams, the All-Stars had one of the best DYBL showings in recent years at the tournament finishing with a 3 in 5 series and taking fifth place out of twelve teams.

2009 was a milestone for the Peninsula MD Tournament as well, the donations this year accumulated to more than one million dollars that has been raised over the past 31 years of the tournament's history.
