League History

Denbigh Youth Baseball League was established the Denbigh neighborhood of Newport News, Virginia in 1967 providing structured baseball training and competition.  In 1991 Girls fastpitch softball was added and the league grew to their maximum of 97 teams and almost 1,200 players in 1995.

 In 2010, after 42 years as an independant league, DYBL joined the Cal Ripken/ Babe Ruth organiation.  Chartered in Virginia's 1st District, DYBL is open to players residing in the following zip codes: 23602, 23603, 23604, 23606, 23608, 23690, 23692, & 23693.

The League operates in conjunction with the City of Newport News Parks, Recreation, and Tourism  Dept. The City provides the playing fields, which are located at school sites.
