****Information update for Clarification (in blue)*******

We understand our season has just begun; however, All-Stars is approaching us FAST!

Below is some information about the process and what to expect.

 Selection of Coaches

The coaches must meet these selection criteria.

1.  They must want to be the coach.

2.  They must have demonstrated the ability to accomplish the job before them.

The Head Coach (Manager) is selected by the Board of Directors from the pool of intents received.  A Manager will be selected for each division (age group).  The Manager will then select the assistant coach(es) from the list provided.  The list will contain coach’s names who submitted their intent to Coach or Manage and are approved by the Board of Directors.

Eligibility

Players are eligible for All-Star teams corresponding to their age as of May 1st of the current year for baseball and January 1st of the current year for softball.  Please note for the 11/12 All Stars, the 11 year old must be currently playing at the Major level.

***Any interested player who cannot tryout due to a reasonable  reason that is deemed acceptable and gave notification to DWLL on or before Tryout date, will be put on the ballot list.  Please note that there is a risk associated by not physically attending the tryouts.

Selection Process of All Stars

For Major (11/12), Major/Minor (10/11) and Junior players, Upon completion of the tryout, each participant will be given a ballot to select the top 8 players they feel should make the team. The ballots will be collected and tabulated by the player agent.  Top 8 players will be placed on the roster based on voting result.  The Manager/Coaches select the remaining players.   All ties in voting will be broken by the All-Star coaching staff during the meeting with the player agent. For 9/10, Upon completion for the tryout, the Manager and Assistant Coach(es) will draft the All Star players.

***  Number of players on a Team is decided by each Manager of each All star age division and is the Head Coach's decision.

Player Notification

Players will be informed of their selection to the teams by the Head Coaches, team rosters will be posted at the Park and on the website. www.eteamz.active.com/dwll

Parents Responsibilities

1.  Parents are responsible for transportation of the players to all practices, games and tournaments that the player is participating.

2.  There are additional financial obligations for participating in All-Stars:

  • Uniform deposit $35.00: returned to you upon return of your All-Star Jersey
  • Travel (if division goes out of town):  Transportation, Hotel & Food.  Sponsorships are accepted to help offset these costs but is up to the players to get them.
  • Any other expenses the team decides on: example, All-Star Jackets, Fitted Hats etc.

 3.  Finally, there is information that needs to be gathered before your child can play.

     a.  3 pieces of correspondence that proves you live where you do.  I.e. utility and credit card bills.  Black out all other information, we need just whom it came from and your address.

     b.  Player’s birth certificate

4. You also have a responsibility to our players and coaches;

     a.  Set a good example of fan support and sportsmanship.  Be loud and proud, both in winning and losing.  Dimond West Little League has a long deserved reputation of traveling in great numbers and being very supportive of not only our players but of good play by all teams.  Continue this tradition; it is one to be proud of.

     b.  Remember that this is an All-Star team…just because you player was a pitcher or shortstop on their league team doesn’t mean that is where they will play in All-Stars.  ALL of the positions must be filled; playing out field is better than not playing at all.  Playing positions, playing time, and batting order is totally up to the coaches.  There are minimum playing time requirements.
