Derryfield Boys' Soccer: Player of the Week

PLAYER OF THE WEEK 4: Griffin Phaneuf

Sophomore Griffin Phaneuf is maturing into a true dominate player in NHIAA Division IV.  Phaneuf has great pace and a very good sense on where and when to shoot.  Over the week's 3 games, Phaneuf scored in all three games, including scoring both goals vs. Division III Campbell and the lone goal versus Woodsville.  He even scored a goal versus Pittsfield on Saturday, 9/24, which was his birthday.  The scoring output has moved Phaneuf into a tie for the lead for the Golden Boot Award (team's top scorer).

Congratulations Griffin!  Keep up the great work!

PLAYER OF WEEK 3: Nevin Stevens

The third week of the season had two games that were polar opposites, a tough loss to Wilton and a easy win over Hinsdale.  In both games, a key to the team's offense was senior co-captain midfielder Nevin Stevens.  Stevens scored a goal in the Hinsdale game and was inches away from scoring in the Wilton game.  In fact, it took a diving save from the Wilton keeper to turn away Nevin's shot.  At this time, Nevin is the leading scorer on the team and in the lead to win the golden boot.

Not showing up in the score book is the leadership that Nevin brings to a young team.  His hard work and competive nature are a great example for the underclassman of what DS soccer is all about.  Congratulations Nevin.
