BOMBERS PASS THE TORCH TO THE DHYS RED WINGS

Following the 2005 tournament season, most of the Bombers players moved up to 13U. However, 4 remained at the same age level and played on the 2006 DHYS Red Wings 12U: Jimmy Dilz, James Ridgway, Ross Whatley, and Dylan Willis. On July 11, 2006, the Red Wings won the Bronco Georgia State Championship!   http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=dhysredwings [7/17/06]

2004 SUMMER TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW

Ripken Baseball 11U Tournament of Champions
The treat for the summer of 2004 was being invited to play in the 11U Tournament of Champions at the Ripken Youth Baseball Academy in Aberdeen, Maryland.  The facility is magnificent, and the baseball competition was top notch.  The Bombers finished in Second Place with a 7-2 record for a great conclusion to the summer tournament season!  Special thanks to Cal Ripken, Jr. for making an appearance the final day of the tournament and giving many players the chance to meet him.  [7/19/04]

PONY Baseball Bronco 11U Georgia State Tournament
The Bronco 11U Georgia State Tournament hosted by Southwest Baseball got under way June 28, 2004.  The Bombers faced great competition throughout the tournament, but in the end it came down to the Bomber-NYO rivalry.  In the final game, the Bombers edged NYO in an outstanding battle of pitching and defense to claim their second consecutive PONY Baseball Georgia State Championship.  [7/5/04]

PONY Baseball Director's Tournament
The Director's Tournament was held at Hunter Memorial Park in Douglasville.  The Bombers played double-headers on Thur. June 24 and Sat. June 26.  The other teams in the tournament were the Douglasville 11U and 12U teams, and the Lithia Springs 11U and 12U teams.  The Bombers made an excellent showing and had great games with the two 12U teams.  [6/27/04]

Larry Hutson Invitational Tournament at Shaw Park
The Larry Hutson Invitational Tournament at Shaw Park began June 8.   Now in its 33rd year, this is Cobb County's oldest and largest rec all star tournament, and it brings together the top all star teams in the metro Atlanta area.  Having lost to NYO in the second round, the Bombers fought back to the Championship Game, but rain brought the tournament to an end.  Congratulations to NYO on their first place finish.  [7/6/04]

Georgia AAU State Tournament
The AAU State Tournament included 24 of the top teams in Georgia.  All teams in the field with the exception of the Bombers were full-time travel teams.  In a strong and balanced pool, the Georgia Mustangs went undefeated while the Bombers, North Georgia Jammers, and Dalton Tigers took turns beating each other.  After a tough 1-run loss to the Jammers, the Bombers bounced back with a sparkling game against Dalton. The Bombers narrowly missed advancing to the Championship Round by a mere 2 runs allowed.  [6/5/04]

Tucker Memorial Day BBQ Bash
The Bombers went 2-1 in the rain-shortened Memorial Day tournament in Tucker. The competitors included the Winder Diamond Dogs, Mountain Park Panthers, Hampton Sidewinders, Shiloh Roughriders, Lilburn Patriots, and Tucker Storm.   [5/31/04]

Rockdale Rhinos BPA Classic
The Bombers made their 2004 tournament debut with a Second Place finish in the Rockdale Rhinos BPA Classic May 21-23, 2004.  Along with the host Rockdale Rhinos and the Bombers, the strong field included Team Georgia, North Henry Red Sox, Grayson Mudcats, Winder Diamond Dogs, McDonough Maddogs, and Rockdale Jaguars. Congratulations to Tim Conner and the Rhinos, who took home the Championship!   [5/23/04]
