Drexel Rugby is one of the most active athletic clubs in Drexel University. With approximately 40 members, we strive to provide an exciting athletic and social environment for all students of all walks of life. To step onto the rugby pitch is probably the hardest move in the sport of rugby. To admit that there are men out there that will scare you, chase you, and tackle you for 80 long minutes. You may get hurt, you may hurt others, but after your first rugby match, you start to tell people, "I PLAY rugby." Seasons pass. League play in the fall season eventually ends and the spring tournaments seem so far way. With snow still on the ground in Philadelphia, you may be boarding a bus for a quick get away to an away game at on of the City Six teams. Or perhaps you will be in Washington D.C. singing about Yogi Bear, and what you would do if I Were the Marrying Kind. Without even knowing it, as Summer 7's slip into league play, you begin to tell people, "I AM a rugby player." As a rugby player, your door is open to a world of possibilites. Drexel rugby alumni often continue their rugby careers with a men's club. Or you can choose to become a referee, a coach, or just a fan. People will still look at you quizzically and shake their heads as they hear of your exploits on (and off) the field, but you will fill up with pride when explaining how, with an "Aussie Right" and great support from your teammates, you scored a TRY. Drexel men’s rugby run by many rugby players who like to PLAY rugby. We know that you will like to play rugby as well. We do our best to field two sides; the "A-side" is the more experienced players, while the developmental "B-side" is where everyone learns to play rugby. As rugby is a tough sport, players are regularly pulled up from the "B-side" side to fill in the gaps. Take that first step. Join us.
