PIECUSH MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP

Since the Joe Piecush Memorial Tournament started with a soggy weekend it was only fitting that it ended much the same. Sprinkles began to fall during the quarter final game and then the skies really opened up during the semi-final game causing play to be suspended. After a brief delay the game resumed with EnviroVantage/Cartelli's holding off Big Brothers Big Sisters' last inning surge for a 9-7 victory and earning their spot in the Championship game against Coolidge Construction/White Diamond Painting.

The Championship game featured a back and forth contest, a few more rain showers, and a tie score heading into the bottom of the final inning. Needing just one run to win the Coolidge squad had the meat of their order coming to the plate. Russ Frost lead off with a double and advanced to third on Ray Pardy's single; Chris Serrecchia was intentionally walked to load the bases with no outs; then Brandon Connors singled home the game winning run with a line drive to the drawn-in outfield.

Coolidge Construction defeated EnviroVantage for the second time in as many days to win the Piecush Memorial Tournament and finish with a perfect (5-0) record.
