The Dover Brick House was the number 2 seed going into the playoffs after having a successful regular season finishing 26-6 and putting 112 runs more runs on the board than their closest opponent. If there was one word that described this team, it would be "offense". They made easy work of their first two opponents in the playoffs and then faced the #1 seeded Bud Light squad in the finals of the winner's bracket. The time to gel is in the playoffs and they did just that as they made quick work of the regular season champs and dismantled them 26-8 in 5 innings and earned the home field advantage in the championship game.
Their opponent in this contest was Ben's Auto Body who came through the loser’s bracket after entering the playoffs as the #5 seeded team. Ben's lost early in the playoffs to Bud Light but came back and beat them 16-15 in the finals of the loser’s bracket to advance to the big game.
It rained late the night before and most of the morning and the field was a mess but both teams’ spirits were high and everyone was excited to play in the season finale. Ben's Auto Body came out of the gate quick scoring 5 runs in the top of the first inning and then Brick House answered in the bottom of the inning by matching those 5 runs. The game went back and forth with both teams peppering the fence and the gaps with line drive hits while the scoreboard kept ringing up run after run. If the best defense is a strong offense then both teams were employing that strategy. The game was tied at 20-20 as Brick House came up to bat in the bottom of the 5th inning. As they had done all season long; they kept hitting, and hitting, and hitting. The next thing you knew they had put up twelve runs in the bottom of the inning and won by the ASA mercy rule; 32-20.
Congratulations to the Dover Brick House on a successful season!
