Dolphins coaches receive 4 of the 6 Ontario coaching awards

The Dolphins Swim Club coaches and swimmers have reasons to believe fall will be the best season of the upcoming year.

 

Already based on last year’s performance of the team the Dolphins will be receiving the higher number of Ontario Swimming Coaching (OSCC) awards that will be presented during the upcoming OSCC/Swim Ontario Coach Award Celebration at the Swim Ontario Conference & AGM in Kingston on September 24, 2011.

 

Erin Russell, the head coach of the Dolphins Swim Club, will be honored as Coach of the Year for best performance of a female athlete (Sinead Russell) and she will also receive the OSCC Age Group Award for the 15-17 year old girls’ group (Sinead Russell) and the OSCC Age Group Coach Award for the 13-14 year old girls’ group (Olivia Sbaraglia). Diego Pesco, assistant coach of the Dolphins will also receive the OSCC Age Group Coach Award for the 12 year old boys’ group based on the performance of Zixuan Li.

 

Three Dolphins swimmers will receive the following awards: Sinead Russell will be recognized as the most valuable senior female swimmer in Ontario, including the 15/17 Age Group award. Olivia Sbaraglia will be recognized as the best 13/14 girl, and Zixuan Li will be recognized as the best 12 years and under boy in the province. In addition, Sinead Russell, Olivia Sbaraglia and Lauren Dixon have made the Junior National Team. Adding to the Dolphins Swim Club success, the following swimmers received University scholarships this year: Stella Zhao – Columbia University, Meaghan McCann – St. Bonaventure University, Ryan Maccarrone – Oakland University, Olivia Anderson – Guelph University, Tedra Bolger – McGill University, Caroline Vani – OCAD University, Larissa Ruiz – Guelph University.
