The Del Mar Powerhouse Baseball Club is pleased to announce open tryouts for its 2009-10 competitive teams for ages 8U through 13U. Evaluations will also be held for the Club’s developmental program for ages 5, 6, and 7. Baseball ages are determined based on the player’s age as of April 30, 2010.

Tryout times and fields for each age are as follow. Field references are for the Del Mar Heights Elementary School, 13555 Boquita Drive, Del Mar 92014. Directions to the school can be found by clicking on the “Locations” tab.

All players are required to attend the tryouts unless arrangements are made for an alternate evaluation or tryout time with a Powerhouse manager (e-mail to registrar@delmarpowerhouse.com). Tryouts for the 8U thru 13U competitive teams will focus on evaluation of fundamental skills – throwing, catching, fielding, hitting and running – plus a live scrimmage setting including pitcher and catcher evaluation. Evaluations for the Club’s developmental program for 5, 6, and 7-yr olds will consider a player’s baseball skills along with basic athletic skills and the player’s ability to respond to instruction and coaching.
Players trying out for the Club’s competitive teams (8U – 13U) must pay a $55 registration fee for the evaluation/tryouts (may be paid online during open registration or at the tryouts with a check payable to Del Mar Powerhouse Baseball Club). If a player is not selected for a Powerhouse team, the registration fee will be refunded. Players new to Powerhouse MUST provide a copy of a government-issued birth certificate at the tryouts. Players should….
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to their scheduled time to sign in and warm up.
- Warm-ups will be PROMPTLY 15 minutes prior to the scheduled tryout time for each age; PLEASE BE PREPARED AND READY TO WARM UP.
- Wear appropriate baseball gear including long pants, non-metal cleats for ages 12 and under, a protective cup, and a baseball cap.

Please recognize the commitment in time and to the team that participation on a Del Mar Powerhouse team represents. By trying out for a Del Mar Powerhouse team, you are confirming your availability and commitment to participate in scheduled practices, games and tournaments through at least Memorial Day Weekend 2010.
While we recognize that family and other commitments sometimes conflict with scheduled Del Mar Powerhouse team activities, such conflicts should be minimized whenever possible, particularly for scheduled tournaments.
Please note that all Powerhouse teams and programs take one Sunday per month off so that our players and families can plan and enjoy other activities.
