Deer Lakes Youth Soccer: Coach's Information
Thank you all for volunteering to be a coach. Your efforts are truely appreciated by the soccer club and most importantly by the kids. We could not offer this program without the coaches - so thank you!!
This page is dedicated to providing information to the coaches. This information includes a description of the coach's responsibility during the season and sample training activites to help design a practice. If there is any other information you need, please do not hesitate to contact an age group commissioner or a Board Member. We will get whatever it is you need to you.
The handout below entitled "Training Activities" provides sample activities for ages U6 through U12 that can be used during your practices. We will try to add new activities to this document from time to time. If you have an activity that worked well for you in a practice, please forward it to a board memeber and we will add it to the next revision.
Coaches Code Of Conduct - Details what is expected of all of our coaches, and will now need to be signed by every one of Deer Lakes Youth Soccer coaches.
Risk Management - State Law Change Affects All Clubs
The PA Child Protective Services Law changed effective January 1, 2015. All background checks must be completed using the provider designated by PA per the requirements of the law. Clearances are required by Deer Lakes Youth Soccer in accordance with PA West for every volunteer who works directly with youth players or has a reasonable amount of contact with them (i.e., coaches, assistant coaches, managers, assistant managers, trainers, club officers). Once a receipt is submitted to the club Treasurer, Deer Lakes Youth Soccer will reimburse for each clearance fee.
PA West offers many classes to aid the recreational coach in their coaching experiences. Coaching certification within PA West Soccer is geared towards developing coaches that can enhance the soccer experience of our member players. A range of courses is offered that provide training for the new recreational coach as well as the more serious coach looking for up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge. Courses range from the State Youth "Y" Certificate up to the 36-hour State "D" License course. Qualified coaches looking for more advanced training should look for information in US Soccer's National Coaching School section. All PA West Soccer courses are designed to meet the needs of our coaches and clubs in today's changing soccer environment. If you are interested in taking one of the class, please visit the PA West website by clicking the link below. You can register on-line. The Youth Modules are recommended for U6, U8, U10, and U12 coaches.
