Tournament Requirements
Umpire Requirements For Dixie Tournaments
1. Sub District and District tournaments: Each umpire shall be a registered Dixie Boys/Majors umpire, registered for a minimum of two (2) consecutive years plus umpire a minimum of ten (10) Dixie Boys\Majors regular season games to qualify.
(a.) Each umpire shall be recommended by at least two Dixie officials, District Director and the District Umpire in Chief.
2. State Tournaments: Each umpire shall be a registered Dixie Boys/Majors umpire for a minimum of two (2) consecutive years. Each umpire shall have umpired a minimum of not less than ten (10) Dixie Boys\Majors regular season games in the year he is selected to umpire the State Tournament. The umpire shall also have at least one District Tournament to meet the criteria.
(a.) Each umpire shall be recommended by at least three Dixie officials, District Director, District Umpire in Chief, The State Umpire in Chief and/or the State Director.
3. World Series: Each umpire shall be a current registered umpire for a minimum of not less than three (3) consecutive years. Each umpire shall have not less than ten (10) Dixie Boys\Majors regular season games in the year he is selected to umpire the World Series. The umpire shall also have one (1) District Tournament and one (1) State Tournament to meet the criteria.
(a.) Each umpire shall be recommended by at least three (3) Dixie officials, District Director, District Umpire in Chief, The State Umpire in Chief and/or the State Director/Assistant State Director.
4. Every umpire affiliated with the Dixie Boys\Majors program shall register each year with the District and/or State Umpire in Chief having passed the National umpire exam and paid the state fees to officiate in a Dixie Boys/Majors Tournament.
5. Any leagues that host the Dixie Boys\Majors tournament at any level shall use only registered umpires that have met the criteria mentioned above. Any league guilty of such shall bring in umpires that are registered at the expense of the Tournament host.
To avoid having a good umpire disqualified because he didn't meet the criteria of consecutive years of registration it is highly recommended that all leagues encouraged their umpires to register every year. This is beneficial to both the umpire and the league.
