TOURNAMENT BULLETIN
Dear Little League District Administrators, League Presidents and League Officials:
The Little League International Tournament Committee has made the following modifications to the 2008 Tournament Rules and Guidelines in baseball and softball. These changes, recommended by the Little League President's Advisory Committee and the Little League International Board of Directors, are in effect as of today.
Participation in Other Programs - The rule that prohibits players from participating in non-Little League programs (dual participation), once Little League tournament play has begun, has been rescinded at all levels of play for baseball and softball. However, the local Little League retains the right to dismiss a player from a tournament team if the player repeatedly misses games and practices.
Big League - The maximum number of players that can be named on a tournament team affidavit is now 17 (increased from 15).
Senior League - The maximum number of players that can be named on a tournament team affidavit is now 16 (increased from 14).
In the case of the first item above, it remains Little League International's position that a local Little League should expect that players it selects for this honor will make playing for the Little League Tournament Team their priority.
For the other two items, the maximum number has been increased because of the nature of play in these divisions. With players in these age groups also having jobs or other responsibilities, this gives managers more flexibility to ensure that games are not delayed or forfeited because of the lack of players.
Sincerely,
Patrick W. Wilson
Vice President of Operations

March 6, 2008
Dear District Administrators and District Staff:
Little League International will soon announce an all-new FREE web-based resource for Little League managers and coaches. At the bottom of this message is your complimentary district code, which will allow you to log in to the site and see all that it offers. Please familiarize yourself with the content and make the Little League Coach Resource Center a topic at future meetings in your district. Administrators in your leagues will receive a similar message in a few days urging them to encourage coaches to log in to the site.
Great coaching is no accident. It starts with a love for the game. It grows from a strong desire to give children the tools they need to succeed on the field and in life. And it can happen in any league, with any team, anywhere in the world.
Expert advice from renowned players and coaches; video demonstrations; skills development drills and exercises: At LittleLeagueCoach.org, Little League managers and coaches can get all the tools they need to start their season right or build on what they already have in place.
And it’s free.
Little League International considers providing these tools so important to our youth and so important to the success of your leagues that it has decided to offer them without any charge. Unlike some other youth sports organizations’ coaching programs, it won’t cost any Little League manager or coach a dime to access the exclusive content and resources at LittleLeagueCoach.org.
To ensure that this site benefits Little League managers and coaches, we ask you, our top volunteers, again to promote the Little League Coach Resource Center to your leagues. Furthermore, we hope you will join us in encouraging any managers and coaches you meet to use this dynamic resource. As experts weigh in with advice and tips, and as new resources become available, these team leaders will find the help and information they need to coach effectively and create lasting positive memories for their players.
Great Coaching Starts Here. Free.

Nov. 30, 2007
Dear Little League Volunteers:
A recent change in staffing will alter the way issues involving the Challenger Division are handled at Little League International.
David James, now the director of the Urban Initiative and Challenger Division, will assume the duties formerly held by Jim Ferguson as it relates to matters involving the Challenger Division – Little League’s division for mentally and physically disabled children.
Mr. Ferguson will become the assistant director of risk management.
“Jim has done an outstanding job at the helm of the Challenger Division, Patrick Wilson, vice president of operations, said. “But his expertise is needed full time in the risk management department. With David assuming the Challenger Division role, it brings those issues under the umbrella of the operations division.
Mr. James has been employed at Little League International for 10 years – seven as director of the Urban Initiative. Mr. Ferguson has been employed at Little League International for 19 years as director of the Challenger Division, while being assigned to the risk management department.
As always, thank you for your service to the children and families of your community.
Sincerely,
Little League International
