WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS

Our first game had a little rust on it.  Showtime is a great team, but we pulled it out.  Friday night we played very well and had a run rule shutout.  Saturday our girls were on fire.  They would not and could not be stopped.  They run ruled a great Texas Glory team and then had two more shutouts, 12-0 and 18-0.  We then played Showtime again and like I said, we were on fire and beat them 13-1. Championship Sunday came and we met up with Texas Rip.  It was one of the most exciting games I have ever been a part of.  We came out on top 7-6.  One of the best plays I have ever seen took place in this game.  Bases loaded, no outs, we turn a double play from home to first in a blink of an eye.  Now, two on, two outs, we end the inning without giving up a run.  Are you kidding me??!!  We come back to win on a bang bang play at the plate.  IT WAS SICK!!  We go on to the championship and take it all.

Great Pactices

The girls have let their loss fuel them for the World Series.  They have been working hard and can't wait to head to Texas.  We are familiar with Texas Rip 03 and we know we will have our hands full.  There are 13 teams in the tournament and we will have to bring our "A" game.  They have been working hard and I wish them the best of luck.  WHO ARE WE??

USSSA State RUNNER-UP
It was a very sad day for the girls, they left for the first time in second place.  Impact has been in the championship with us several times this year and they finally beat us.  Much respect to their team and congratulations to the girls and coaches.  This may have been exaclty what our girls needed before going to the world series.

USFA STATE CHAMPS

The girls played this weekend in Jacksonville at USFA state and left in first.  They always seem to play their best right when it matters.  They always seem to pull it out, the bats get hot when needed and the defense steps up to get the much needed out.  I am so happy to watch them get their much deserved title.  The champiosnhip game was never in question.  I have much respect to Impact and I know we will see them again next weekend in Conway.  Great job impact, it is always a pleasure to play someone with class and respect.

The girls hit a milestone this weekend, 40 wins.  I am so proud.  In the warmup for the championship they were having a blast, yelling chants, and just being lil kids.  The great attitudes started in warm up, to the walk in, and to the game.  They won decisively 15-0 against Thunder and had a lot of fun.  I was glad to see the girls hit their milestone and get some more district champ patches.  Good Luck in state!!!!

PITCH FOR THE CURE CHAMPIONS
It wasn't undefeated, but it made it even sweeter.  We won our first two with ease, but then we played the knockouts who were batting with tree trunks.  They were killing the ball in the gap and gave us our first loss of the season.  We had several girls in tears and parents as well.  I hated to see them cry, but it let me know a lot about the heart, character, and desire that this group of girls and parents have.  I was more proud of seeing how they responded to a loss than all the victories.  I went on to give them a speech about heart and we went on to the pool for the evening.  Sunday came with a vengence, we were quoting scripture, or I was anyways.  Weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning, Psalm 30:5.  These girls haven't been in the losers bracket and faced an elimination game this year.  They stepped up to the plate and played back-back-back-back-back to win it all.  I was so proud.  This championship literally had blood, sweat, and tears and I couldn't be happier.  I love this team!!!  Way to FINISH EMPTY!!  WHO ARE WE, DD03!!

Undefeated in Haskell, 10u
We have had a few weekends off.  We got rained out mothers day weekend, then my wife graduated with her Master's degree(Congrats), and then my sister got married(Congrats).  All that being said, we havent played in three weekends.  It ended up being 26 days since we played a game.  YIKES!  It didn't matter, these girls are so amazing and played like they never had a weekend off.  They played in 10u mp and only gave up 3 runs in 4 games.  Our defense did very well and I can't wait to go to PFTC.  I am so proud!!!!

WOW!  I can't believe this weekend.  We played all the best competition again, Wild things, Synergy, Knockouts, and Impact.  Our bats were very off this weekend, but our defense won it for us.  We started off friday with a bang, but on saturday we won against knockouts and synergy as the home team, with time expired or in extra innings by one run.  Our girls played from behind in both games and with about 20 minutes left in both games had a clutch inning where the bats got hot and scored 5.  Those innings put them back in the game and then defense won it all.  Our outfield had their best performance to date this weekend getting a ton of pop fly outs, force outs, and double plays.  These girls have no idea what giving up means.  I am so lucky to be their coach.  The total is 25-0.  CRAZY!!

I also want to mention how much I enjoy playing classy and respectful competition.  The knockouts and impact both have great coaches and players and are always pleasant to play.  Last weekend I had a player get injured and even though we were batting round robin they allowed her a courtesy runner.  This weekend they had an injured player and we offered the same courtesy.  It just goes to show that teams can compete with each other weekend after weekend and still have a good time.  IT'S ALWAYS A PLEASURE, MUCH RESPECT TO YOU TWO!!

Another first place in the USSSA triple diamond, 3-0.  We played three of the top teams, synergy, knockouts, and impact.  We only ollowed 9 runs for the entire tournament.  Each game we allowed less and less runs, we won the championship 14-2.  These girls played above their heads, so many line drives up the middle and shots to the outfield.  There hitting and defensive smarts just amaze me.  This tournament was extra special, Billy D and USSSA have the triple diamond series.  This was the 3rd leg and our girls won the overall prize of championship rings, champ t-shirts, and trophies.  Good Luck at the Big Boom!!!

Undefeated in Benton

Vertigo hosted a great tournament this weekend in Benton.  It was practically the A/B State tournament minus 1-2 teams.  Our girls pulled it out again.  First place, 4-0.  I could go on about this one for forever.  Our bats really never fully showed up the entire weekend even though we had a few shots here and there.  I have just seen them string together shot after shot that my expectations are high, but their defense didn't fail them.  We battled it out with Maumelle, Knockouts, Synergy, and Ballistix, all great competition.  The game with Ballistix was great, much respect to them.  They led half the game and we fought back to take the lead and keep it.  It came down to their last at bat and we ended the game by turning a double play.  It was LEGEND.....wait for it......DARY.  I am amazed every weekend by their talent and their will to never give up.  I am lucky to be your coach.  I think the tally is up to 18-0.  NICE!  Way to start 2012.

I want to give Impact some respect for battling it out with us twice, mush respect.  Our girls came out on top again.  First place, 3-0.  I know these girls have a big bullseye on their back and they will wear it with pride.  Every weekend we get everyones best game and we find a way to win each time.  I am so proud of them.  Something special is going on here.  Next weekend will be another great test.

It was a good weekend again.  Our girls came out on top again.  First place, 3-0.  I will say our girls sure can adapt, grass infields can really throw you off and one mistake can lead to another.  They dont let themselves get down for long and they will fight with all they have to win, win, win.  So proud.

TEXAS CHAMPS
Sunday, March 25
Undefeated in Texas

I am always nervous playing on the road after some long travel.  We started a little slow in the first game, but pulled it off against a very tough Texas Rip 03.  We faced a few more tough teams and faced Rip again in the championship.  Rip had played several games in a row to face us again and they were ready to play.  Our girls pulled it off again and they loved their cool trophies.  Texarkana hosted us very well and we had a great time.  First place, 4-0.  AWESOME!!

Lady Hornets hosted another great tournament this year and we opened the year with a bang.  First place, 4-0.  I am so proud of the girls.  We got the first tournament out of the way and have a few things to work on, but all the preseason practices paid off.  I am so amazed by these girls and I am proud to be their coach.

7U World Series

Our season came to an end in dramatic fashion.  We started the world series horribly.  Our bats didn't come with us and the ground was so hard in Oklahoma the bounces weren't friendly.  Pool play was not our friend and it led to a tough spot in the bracket.  We showed up the next day ready to play.  We fought all the way through the bracket to meet up with OK Heat in the championship in the crazy hot temperatures.  We got revenge on everyone from the previous day, we beat them in the championship, and forced an 'if' game.  I think the temperature got to us, our catcher was getting nose bleeds, a parent passed out, and we ran out of gas.  Much respect to OK Heat, they are a good team and they played the entire thing in pants, geez.  I like wearing pants, but we were in our shorts and we sure felt like we were wearing flames.  We left in 2nd place at the World Series with our heads held high and let OK Heat know that we would see them next year for sure.  It was a great year and can't wait for next year.  I love you guys!!
