Once again the Dig It! Alabama 18s capture 3^rd place, this time in the scenic settings of Panama City Beach!  With 9 teams in their Division, the 18s stepped up to the plate and played some great volleyball!

It was a slow start to the day as we went toe to toe with a scrappy Bama Rocks Team, only to lose the opening match in two very close games.  However, the girls regrouped and came out to dominate the next team with Hannah and Bethany connecting on some beautiful plays which very close to being hazardous to the other teams health!!  Even the R2 was doing a little dance when Bee and Hannah hooked up for a slide that about took the left backs head off…good thing she ducked!!  April proved to be a dominant force in the middle, and was a blocking machine!  "Overpasses will be punished" was her motto as she buried a few inside the 10 foot line!  Dee and Ahsha were whirling dervishes in  the backrow..picking up everything, and Kayleigh obviously ate her wheaties as she was BANGING all day!!  Kiah and Allison were doing a great job hitting outside, and Bethany was playing some great defense as well, and seems to have found her serve again!

The opening playoff match proved no contest as the girls started a little slow but then caught fire!  The first game was close due to our errors 25-22, but once they settled down the second game was 25-11!  Kiah did a great job serving for us….she has come a long way since the first tournament in that department!!

Semi-finals found us paired against a tough Club Fusion team.  Solid all the way around, they simply made fewer errors than we did!  The girls played well, but not as well as they wanted!  Improvement was shown all the way around, and we are looking forward to our next tournament which will be in South Carolina!  

Oh yeah, staying at the SunSpree Resort was not a bad thingJ Cheap winter rates, beautiful white sandy beaches, and sparkling water was the order of the day for the rest of Sat and Sunday!  The girls had a great time together, and expect some nice pictures to be postedJ
