| My hero growing up! I copied his swing (to no avail) and his style (I never saw him throw his bat or helment or a tantrum in frustration like so many players do today) and I never saw a player hit a baseball harder. |

| My number one hero growing up in Chicago was Dick Allen..How many people remember the home-run Allen hit into the center field bull-pen when it was after 9pm...The sportscasters made such a big deal that Dick hadn't hit any home-runs after 9pm, Allen clocked one to practically win the game against I think the Orioles...He was The Man in Chicago sports from 1972-1974... |
