LONGHORNS WIN FIRST TOURNAMENT OF 2011

 GREAT WEEKEND FOR THE BOYS, IN OUR FIRST TOURNAMENT WE WENT 5-0 AND WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE BLAST AT THE BEACH TOURNAMENT IN MANAHAWKIN, NJ.

 IN GAME 1 WE BEAT A VERY YOUNG BUT COMPETITIVE BERGEN SWAMP RATS TEAM 11-1.  KEITH KUBEC GOT US ROLLING WITH 4 INNINGS OF PITCHING AND BILLY BECKER CLOSED IT OUT FOR US.  TYLER NOVAK SPARKED THE OFFENSE WITH 3 WALKS, A DOUBLE AND 3 RUNS SCORED.  KEITH KUBEC DROVE IN 3 WITH A BASES LOADED TRIPLE.

 GAME 2 WE BEAT THE SOUTH JERSEY HEAT 7-3, DJ MAYERS BATTLED THROUGH 4 TOUGH INNINGS BUT KEPT THE HEAT IN CHECK, BATTLING OUT OF JAMS IN EVERY INNING.  JAYLN DORSEY CLOSED IT OUT WITH 2 INNINGS OF RELIEF.  JOE BURTON GOT THE OFFENSE ROLLING WITH A MAMMOTH 2 RUN HR TO RIGHT CENTER,  TODD SAPP WAS 2-2 WITH 2 DOUBLES AND 2 RUNS SCORED.

GAME 3 WE BEAT THE HEAT BASEBALL TEAM 7-4 BEHIND A STRONG PITCHING EFFORT FROM JONNY VALDEZ AND NICK TRENT.  THE OFFENSE WAS LEAD BY ANDY CRATTY WITH A 2-3 EFFORT AND 2 RBIS AND KEITH KUBEC WITH A RBI DOUBLE

SEMIS WE BEAT A SCRAPPY WARETOWN WILDCATS TEAM 2-1 IN 9 INNINGS, KYLE SPEED LAID DOWN A BUNT TO GET THINGS ROLLING IN THE BOTTOM OF THE NINTH AND ADVANCED ALL THE WAY TO THIRD ON A SACRIFICE BUNT BY TYLER NOVAK, ANDY CRATTY THEN BEAT OUT A SLOW ROLLER AND WE WERE ON TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP.  STRONG PITCHING BY KEITH KUBEC, NICK TRENT AND JONNY VALDEZ WHO PICKED UP THE WIN.

 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WE DEFEATED THE HEAT BASEBALL FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS WEEKEND ONLY THIS TIME WAS A LITTLE TOUGHER 7-6.  TOTAL TEAM EFFORT, EVERY PLAYER CONTRIBUTED IN THE VICTORY, DANIEL OLIPHANT SCORED THE WINNING RUN ON A PASSED BALL AFTER HE DROVE IN THE TYING RUN WITH A SINGLE TO CENTER.  BILLY BECKER PITCHED 2 GREAT INNINGS OF RELIEF AND PICKED UP THE WIN.  ANDY CRATTY HIT A 2 RUN HR IN THE 5TH TO GET THINGS ROLLING FOR THE OFFENSE
