2008 SUMMER TEAMS...
2008 league play is tenatively set to start May 19, 2008 and end June 30. We expect most of the 2007 teams to be back for 2008. Arkansas teams will be back for a few games and if any other out of area teams would like a couple of games contact us asap. When the time comes we'll start listing the 2008 Diamond League summer teams that sign up.
There will be some post season World Series play for those interested, ages 15yr., 16yr, & 18yr. Check www.obrienbaseball.com for further details.
Note: There are 2 DIAMOND LEAGUE systems.
*Diamond League-TULSA* includes several of the larger schools and teams that started originally in the league. Teams are added and dropped each year with the previous years teams having first priority of available spots. Teams may choose to play in one of 3 divisions - Varsity, Junior Varsity or Freshmen. Games are played at Owasso, Jenks, Union, Broken Arrow, Claremore, Coweta high school fields.
*Diamond League-O'BRIEN*- includes a mixed bag of teams each year. Usually includes more northern area and smaller classification high schools along with an occasional independent team or two. Also used as a place for teams to play while waiting to get into diamond league -Tulsa. Teams playing Obrien will get first priority to take the next open slot in Tulsa league. Depending on the # of teams we try to have a Varsity and JV divisions at Obrien though all teams have or could play in one overall division. Games are played at O'Brien and Collinsville fields. For further O'Brien info. please visit our web site www.obrienbaseball.com
Team spots are LIMITED in both Tulsa & O'Brien - if your school wants to play please contact us ASAP.
2008 FRESHMEN TEAMS: If you would like to enter a "freshmen" team contact us asap. The 16 teams that play in the 2008 "spring" 60'/90 league at O'Brien will have first priority for a spot.

"DIAMOND LEAGUE" HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER BASEBALL
CONGRATULATIONS TO DIAMOND LEAGUE TEAMS FOR ANOTHER FINE SHOWING IN THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS!! 6-A STATE CHAMPS "UNION REDSKINS" and RUNNER-UP "OWASSO RAMS". 5-A RUNNER-UP "BISHOP KELLEY COMETS".
Diamond League is an organization of Tulsa area high schools who grouped together in 2003 to form a small but high quality and competitive summer program. Our league play is set up to encourage young player developement and to showcase unsigned seniors in a competitive setting. The addition of wood bats in 2004 really made the league more competitive as most games stayed close regardless of the teams spring classification. Schools that have 2 or more league teams will have the option of moving players from one team to the other as they see fit, though "seniors" can only play on the varsity teams.
While winning is usually the main priority, teams in Diamond League have the flexability and are encouraged to develope future players, against quality competition, for future spring championship play without the added pressure of chasing a summer championship. The individual team success of league teams, in various classifications and regardless of the final W-L-T record, seem to prove this is formula that works. Winning, in this summer league, really does take care of itself- for the individual player and team.
Again this year we will have two divisions of play, Varsity and Junior Varsity. Teams will play league games at 4 of the nicest high school parks in the state, Owasso, Union, Broken Arrow and Jenks. Most of the freshmen teams will play at O'Brien park. Each division will have 10 teams and play a 20 game schedule.
Two major changes to the 2004 season was the the switch to *WOOD BATS* and use league play W-L-T record to determine league championships. Diamond League will again be nationally sanctioned with American Amature Baseball Congress (AABC). Teams will be able to pursue state and national championships with this organization as well as others, N.B.C. - USSSA, etc. if they elect to do so. League play is expected to start around JUNE 1ST and wrap up by July 16th.
With the league set up we have and the quality of teams entered we again expect to see Diamond League teams do well in 2005 at the state and national levels, both in '05 summer and spring seasons. As you can see below Diamond League teams also did very well in 2003 and 2004. Diamond League is also proud to have a very large number (50 +) of its seniors sign and go on to play college ball.

Diamond League 2003 - overall success.
The inagural 2003 Diamond League season was overall a successful one, but as most of us know not without a few unfortunate quirks. The good and bad of this season will be addressed in a few weeks as we'll meet to set up the Diamond League 2004 summer season.
This is an open invitation to coaches, players, parents and fans to email us and give suggestions as to things to change-keep, whatever. A suggestions list is being compiled, with no names, to be discussed for the 2004 season.
For those who don't know the Host site personnel worked their rears off getting so many games in such a short time frame- and then it rained !! These guys can't be thanked enough-but-thanks again.
In closing, I just want to thank ALL the coaches, players and parents for their participation, patience and help this season. It truly took a team effort from all for this league to get off the ground and be successful.

TO JOIN DIAMOMD LEAGUE
Coaches, if you would like to join Diamond League in summer 2004 it's not to early to inquire. Though we are going to probably stay with the principle of smaller but competive divisions, we will remain flexable and open to what the high school coach wants in a summer league. Unlike some other summer leagues Diamond League will do everything possible to meet the needs of our customer, the high school coach and his players.
