Dublin Football League Cheerleading dba Dublin Cheer: FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We would like our daughter to cheer but we don't live in Dublin?

No problem. We have open enrollment and will place the cheerleader wherever there is an opening.  All returning participants maintain squad placement rights over any first year cheerleaders.  Please remember that all game and cheer events will be held in Dublin.

Can my daughter(s) cheer for the same team that my son plays?

Yes. You must register your son with the Dublin Football League. Once a player has been assigned to a DFL team, the sibling(s) will be assigned to the corresponding cheerleading squad. The Dublin Football League can be reached at 614-470-2600 or visit their website at www.dublinfootball.org. See links page for direct link.

Are we signing up for particular division or team?

No.  If you have a sibling participating, you will be assigned to his team.  If you are a returning cheerleader, you have the option of staying with the team you cheered for in the previous year.  All first year participants will be placed where needed.

What if our daughter is 7 and our son is 11, can they both be with the same DFL team?

While the DFL has younger (Junior) and older (Senior) divisions, participants will not be forced to cheer for their age group team. The DFL will not split families unless requested. They may cheer for their siblings team.

What if our daughter isn't sure she wants to cheer. Can we get our registration fee returned?

The fee is non refundable.

Do I need to buy a uniform?

Yes, you need to purchase a uniform unless you have all of last year's pieces.

After I register are there any other fees I should be aware of?

We offer a cheerleading clinic to kick off the season. This is an optional event, but lots of fun. The girls will learn season cheers and jumps, have pizza, and even get a DFL Cheer t-shirt.   Please watch the website for additional information pertaining to the clinic.

We registered our daughter in May. It's the end of July. When will we be contacted for practice?

You will be contacted sometime after the DFL rosters are set in early August. Returning participants may be notified earlier if registered. Please be patient.

When and where do the kids practice?

Beginning early August.  Schedules and times will be determined by each individual team. Most squads practice at Dublin school fields or parks, though some teams also practice at private residences.  Practices are generally 1 to 2 times per week and games are played each Sunday.

What criteria is used to place girls on teams?

  1. Cheerleader can cheer for sibling's football team
  2. Returning cheerleaders have option to cheer for team they cheered for in previous year
  3. New cheerleaders are placed on squads that are not full
