Denville PAL Helps Save Valleyview Basketball Program

Denville PAL and a group of athletes from Valleyview Middle School presented the Denville Board of Education with checks of $16,484 and $7,820 respectively to save the school's basketball and wrestling programs Monday night.  The rescue of the sports teams comes after many months of fund raising and continuing efforts to restore the extracurriculars from school budget defeat last spring.
Pictured at the school board meeting are (L-R):  Danny Bias, School Board President Seth Johnson, Matt Stark, Denville PAL Officer Paul Nigro, PAL basketball's Fritz Mott, Brianna Mott, Giulia Vitolo, Lexie Boller, Lexi Finn and Giaci Vitolo.  Many Valleyview kids and their parents worked long and hard through the summer to raise money with basketball tournaments, dunk tanks, 50/50's, auctions and t-shirt sales, as well as many kind donations from the community.  Other fund raisers are planned for this winter.
Denville PAL and concerned parents had previously saved Valleyview's Cheerleading and Cross Country programs in September.  In a fitting triumph, the Valleyview Girls Cross Country team placed first in the Morris County Championships last weekend.
