Denton Guyer Wildcat Baseball: Player-Coach-Parents

We at Guyer believe in a team concept. We all have roles to play in the development of all of our baseball players.  As coaches, we are fortunate to be a part of your son’s life. Our role as a coach is to provide an opportunity for the player to fully develop the skills needed to become the best he can possibly become, while fulfilling the important task of fitting into a team concept.

Coach to Player communication when parent conflict occurs:

1.  Communicate openly with players about potential problems.  Explain to your son that playing time  and strategy will not be discussed with your parents.

2.  If parents call or e-mail a baseball coach, we will inform your son of the contact from their parent.

3.  The call or e-mail will be discussed with the player.  Parent comments will be shared with the player.

 Parent to Coach communication:

If, as a parent, you have a concern about your son’s physical and/or mental safety, take the following steps:

1.  E-mail Coach Kinzy at jkinzy@dentonisd.org.  Do not include Barbara Fischer and/or John Walsh.  When they receive the initial e-mail, they immediately forward it to me anyway.

2.  Upon receiving the e-mail, I will reply back that your son will be notified of your concern.   At this time, I will set up a meeting with myself, your son and another baseball coach.

3.  If you do not receive an e-mail reply, you may call me at 940 230 4781.

4.  If you feel that the issue has not been resolved after the individual meeting with only your son, then contact me via e-mail and I will set up a meeting with the above parties and the concerned parent.  Remember that only safety issues will be discussed.  Playing time, team strategy, playing time of other players, etc. will not be involved.

5.  If there is still a conflict after the above meeting, contact me and I will set up a meeting with the above parties and John Walsh, our campus athletic director.

6. Finally, if needed, the next meeting will include the above parties and Barbara Fischer, our campus principal.

*Remember the resolution of a conflict is in this order and the contact will be through Coach Kinzy.
