Duluth East High School Nordic Ski Team

Welcome to the Duluth East Nordic Ski Team. Our team has a place for every student who wants to learn to cross country ski and race. Of the students who join our team each year, some are experienced racers, some have skied with their families and some have never been on skis before. You are all welcome.

Our goals for all the skiers are:
That you will…
1. Learn to ski technically well
2. Learn to wax your skis for all conditions
3. Learn to develop a training plan
4. Develop the strength and conditioning to enable you to be a fast ski racer
5. Learn to love skiing so it will be a life long sport for you

This year's coaches are:

Dan Hedin Classic Cancelled due to cold

GLEN SORENSON writes:

Hello coaches

Sorry to do this to you, I was at the trails this morning, called the weather service. It was -5 at the airport with a windchill of -24 to - 28, it will warm a couple of degrees but the wind will pick up, so windchill is still too dangerous through the whole day. We have to call off the race. Steve did a ton of work as always, and as always was gracious about the news of the cancellation. I will get the bibs to Bonnie for Tuesday's race and try to call as many of you coaches as possible, if you get this email in time would you email me that you did and save me a call. Sorry again. We tried.

Thanks!

The Lake Superior College Nordic Spirit Ski Race and Tour
To all high school skiers:
The Duluth XC Ski Club will be hosting a big citizens race at Spirit Mt on Sunday, Jan 27th. The Lake Superior College Nordic Spirit Ski Race and Tour. We have a special rate of only $15 for high school skiers who would like to do the race or tour (speak to your coaches first to make sure it's okay). Skiers will get a cool white hat (like the one Annie's been wearing at races) and a gear bag. More info about the races can be found at http://duluthxc.com/nordicspirit.
We're also looking for lots of volunteers. We have jobs like helping at the registration table, or helping out at the gearbag checkin/checkout, or startline/finishline crew. You could also help us pre-stuff the give-away bags. Another really fun volunteer job would be to help out with the kids Trax for Snax race. Help the wee-ones find their way around the course and feed them cookies while cheering them on. Your help would be greatly appreciated. We should have enough of those white hats for volunteers too. If you can help out, talk to Patti Harvieux (Annie's mom) or give her a call at 724-6846.
