Duluth East High School Nordic Ski Team

Welcome to the Duluth East Nordic Ski Team. Our team has a place for every student who wants to learn to cross country ski and race. Of the students who join our team each year, some are experienced racers, some have skied with their families and some have never been on skis before. You are all welcome.

Our goals for all the skiers are:
That you will…
1. Learn to ski technically well
2. Learn to wax your skis for all conditions
3. Learn to develop a training plan
4. Develop the strength and conditioning to enable you to be a fast ski racer
5. Learn to love skiing so it will be a life long sport for you

West Yellowstone Update - Leaving 10 a.m. Saturday

Hello Skiers,

Due to the road conditions in Minnesota the bus company has told us that they will not be able to travel across Minnesota this evening. Therefore we will be leaving Duluth Saturday morning. We will be loading the buses at 9:30 a.m. and leaving from Ordean East at 10:00 a.m. This should get us into West Yellowstone about 8:00 a.m. in time for our morning ski. Pack a lunch for Saturday noon on the bus.

Also in talking to the ski shop in West Yellowstone we will not need roller skis. It was -10 degrees there this morning and is expected to stay cold. They are also expecting more snow on Monday. Make sure you bring running shoes just in case.

Check your email, the Duluth East Website www.dulutheastnordic.org and the facebook page dulutheastnordic for updates.

"It will hurt. It will take time. It will require dedication. It will require willpower. You will need to make healthy decisions. It requires sacrifice. You will need to push your body to its max. There will be temptation. But, I promise you, when you reach your goal, it’s worth it." -Unknown

West Yellowstone Update

Here is the latest grooming report from West Yellowstone:

11.17.2016 Grooming Report:
Light snow falling, 23F. Almost a foot of new snow in town. Trails groomed: Rendezvous, Dead Dog, Biathlon Range, Penalty loop, short Deja 5 KM, Volunteer, Jerry's, the Doodle, Sheppard's, Drewski, and the long Sprint loop. Skate only and rock skis, though overall except for some soft dirt in a few places, skiing looked pretty good. Everything that is groomed is at least 4.5 M wide.

Although it looks like we will be able to ski let's bring roller skis, helmets and running shoes just in case. Remember to pack light the buses are almost full so the luggage compartments will be full too. Maybe put your helmet and a few other things in a small bag for the overhead bins in the bus. About the for casted weather for Friday. We are leaving the go/go late decision up to the bus drivers and bus company. We will keep you posted through our website - www.dulutheastnordic.org and our facebook page www.facebook.com/dulutheastnordic. As of now we are still planing on leaving at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

See you tomorrow!
