Delaware Bowling Senate: Welcome

DELAWARE BOWLING SENATE

Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit our website. It’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally here! Let me give you a little history about how we got started...

Robert McGee, Julia Nelson and Carolyn Roy had discussed why they were buying their membership card from other NBA Senates? In the spring of 1974 Bob McGee asked Tom Braxton, who had a lot of success in forming the Inter-Community Bowling League, to help him establish a NBA Senate in Wilmington.

After making all the initial contacts, the first meeting was held, 4:00PM, June 23, 1974, at the Odd Fellows Hall. At his meeting the first slate of officers were selected.  Margie Lee was also in attendance, she provided very good insight and she discuss problems we will encouter in forming and keeping our Senate going. We were invited to the July meeting held in New York City on July 20, 1974. This meeting is held every year prior to the National Convention. Our senate participate in the King and Queen Contest, to help raise money for our senate treasury. The meeting was a success.

In October 1974, we hosted our first Nine Pin No Tap at First State Bowling Lanes on October 11th @ 11:00pm until 3:00am and October 12th, 13th, 1974 from 12:00 Noon until 9:00 p.m. Cost $4.00 per person.  Prize Fund - $100.00 (1st), $75.00 (2nd) and $50.00 (3rd).

The rest is history........
