As you sift through the material provided for you here, keep some things in mind. Nothing here is meant to be derogatory. When you read the Dear Coach series, we are simply trying to give you a little insight to our jobs to make yours easier. We don't think we're smarter than you (not always, anyway ;-) ). We know more about our area of expertise (the rules and the application thereof) while you know more about yours (strategy, player mechanics, etc.). It is our hope that by increasing the lines of communication between coaches and umpires, both of our jobs will be just a little bit easier!
