In all age divisions starters may re-enter once, but must re-enter in their original position in the batting order. Non-starters are not allowed to re-enter. When a starter, the player in the starters batting order must be taken out of the game and is ineligible for the remainder of the game.
**EXTRA HITTER RULE
An extra hitter (EH) will be allowed as an option for all ages, in tournament and league play at Sport 2 Sport.
1. The team must declare its intent to play with a 10-man line up before the start of the game, by including the extra hitter on the line up card. (The EH may not be inserted in the line up after the games starts.)
2. If a team chooses not to play with an extra hitter it will have a normal 9-man line up.
3. When the Extra Hitter is utilized, a coach may insert any nine of the 10 players listed on the line up card at any one time. Changing the defensive position of any of the 10 players does not constitute a substitution. (The only limitation would be in changes of pitchers as stated in the substitution rule – the starting pitcher may return one time to the mound after being replaced by another pitcher.)
4. After the start of the game, a team may not revert to a 9-player line-up. In the event of an injury to one of its players and no eligible substitute is available, the batting position of the injured player is skipped and an out is recorded each time that spot in the order comes to the plate.
