Dublin Community Swim Team: Registration Information

The Dublin Community Swim Team is a club swim team that operates under the banner of USA Swimming. The Sea Dragon program runs year round with two major seasons. The fall and winter season runs five to six months during winter, training at the DCRC and competing at local and on occasion out of town competitions on weekends. The spring and summer season runs four to five months, training both indoor and outdoor with local and travel competitions available. The Sea Dragons are available to both new swim team members and experienced athletes who have set high goals for advancement within the sport of swimming. Swimmers are expected to know some key fundamentals of competitive swimming before participating.

Members must live within Dublin School District. Swimmers do not need a DCRC annual pass to participate. Placement is determined by ability and age.

Fall/Winter Program: Sept. 14 –March (ending date is determined by last competition)

If this is your first time joining the team, you must come to an evaluation session at the DCRC or obtain a reference from your summer team coach. At the evaluations the coach determines if each swimmer is swim-team ready or if more personal and fundamental attention is needed in swim lessons. A referral or evaluation is required before registration, as this determines eligibility and group placement. To set up an evaluation or to contact the head coach, contact David Kuck at dkuck@dublin.oh.us or call 410-4566.

Team fees are based on the training group and reflect both pool use and coaching requirements. Additional team fees for each child include a $95 booster fee, which covers the swimmers required registration with USA Swimming and team functions throughout the year. All swimmers must be registered with United States Swimming. There are extra costs associated with participation in competitive events. These fees are determined by the number of events participated in at each meet.  Participation in competitions is expected of all swimmers and meet schedules will be provided at the parent and swimmer meeting September 13.

Team RegistrationSwimmers who were on the team in 2008-09 may register online starting  New swimmers must attend an evaluation session in order to be placed on the team.  An evaluation can be scheduled through David Kuck at dkuck@dublin.oh.us or call 410-4566.  Registration for new swimmers can be done online starting September 1st or done in person, at the DCRC starting September 8th.Groups are limited in size and may be closed if they reach capacity. Required Parent and Swimmer MeetingA required parent and swimmer meeting will be September 13 at the DCRC. Both new and returning swimmers and families should attend this meeting, where parents will complete team registrations for USA Swimming and emergency release forms required for participation on the team.  We also will set up our team distribution list for in-season communications, going over competition and practice requirements and policies, reviewing the season calendar, ordering suits and equipment, and making general preparations for the season.

Practice Groups

The team is organized into levels based on age, ability and commitment level. This allows all swimmers to swim in a safe and constructive environment. The coaches determine entrance onto the team and placement in practice groups.

Senior Group: Swimmers must be in High School. This group will be doing dryland training mixed with games and activities on occasion. In the water, we will be working on stroke refinement, aerobic training, and peak performance training in high school focused events. In addition to the pre-mentioned aspects of training, 2-3 each week we will be dedicating one hour to water polo training to help with general water conditioning and athleticism. To be an active member of this group, it is expected that the swimmer maintain attendance as well as participation in some competitions.  Swimmers are encouraged to return following their high school seasons for the Ohio Senior Championships, Zone Sectionals, and Junior Nationals.
