Machine Pitch
In Machine Pitch the average team is composed of seven and eight year-olds that have previously played T-Ball. There are no try-outs at this level. Players are placed on teams based on geographical location or player requests. Minors Players must attend try-outs and are placed on a team through a formal draft. Game scores and standings are maintained. The average team is composed of players eight to ten years-old. Games are usually played at Turley Field #2. Majors The world's largest organized youth sports program. Inaugurated as a three-team league in 1939. Uses a 60-foot diamond with pitching distance set at 46 feet. Features a full range of tournament play, including the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvnia, which is televised on ESPN. New players must attend try-outs and are placed on a team through a formal draft. These teams are composed of players age eleven and twelve years-old. Ten year-olds may request a try-out for Majors. Players must be within this division to be eligible for Little League All-Stars. Juniors An extension of the parent Little League program. Designed for youths 13-14 years-old. 12 year-olds may request a try-out for this division. Inaugurated in 1980 as a transition program into the Senior League. Leagues utilize 90-foot base paths. Features a full range of tournament play, including a Junior League Baseball World Series. New players must attend try-outs and are placed on a team through a formal draft. Returning players remain with that team each year until moving up to the next level of play. Games are usually played at Easterly Field at Leitch Park. Teams will play against each other, as well as inter-league games outside of Dale City. Based on quantity of Senior players, a select number of 14 year-olds will be allowed to try-out for the Seniors division. Seniors An extension of the parent Little League program. Designed for youths 14-16 years-old. Inaugurated in 1961 as an extension of Little League Baseball to continue providing baseball activity within the framework of the local league. Utilizes a conventional 90-foot diamond. Features a full range of tournament play, including a Senior League World Series. New players must attend try-outs and are placed on a team through a formal draft. Returning players remain with the team until moving up to the next level of play. These games are usually played at Easterly Field at Leitch Park. Teams will compete against each other, as well as inter-league games outside of Dale City. Challengers The Challenger Division provides boys and girls, ages 5 to 18 with disabilities, regardless of their limitations, an opportunity to play baseball.
