About Little League Baseball in Dallas Center and Grimes Little League Baseball (web site)
Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Little League program assists youth in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Little League Baseball and Softball program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes. Founded in 1939; granted Federal Charter July 16, 1964, by unanimous act of the Senate and House of Representatives of the Congress of the United States of America and signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson as Public Law 88-378, 88th Congress H.R. 9234, and amended December 26, 1974, Public Law 93-551, 93rd Congress, H.R. 8864. Little League is tax exempt.
Online registration starts on January 1st each year and runs through February 28th. In person registration will be held on selected dates in February in both Dallas Center and Grimes. Team practices will start in late March or early April (depending on level of play). Games will start in late April or early May (depending on level of play) and run through June. Little League Baseball, Incorporated is a non-profit organization whose mission is to "to promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in Little League Baseball and Softball."
The Dallas Center and Grimes communities have participated in Little League baseball activities for many years. However, each community has historically had a separate board of directors to manage league activities. In late 2007, through the hard work of many dedicated individuals the recommendation to combine the boards and league activities was presented to the Dallas Center and Grimes boards. Both boards voted unanimously to adopt the combined board structure. The combined board structure is now managed according to the DCGLL Constitution.
