Notes on TOP Soccer- The Outreach Program
       September 20, 2006

Kickoff: We are off to a great start in our eighth year. We are pleased to have 155 players (the same as last year), with games on eight fields at the same time. We hope you like the new “Carolina blue” uniforms.

End of Season Awards Party- NEW DATE is Nov. 5: Our End of the Season Party will be on Sunday November 5. PLEASE NOTE- this is a change from the original schedule that was mailed out in July! The Party will once again be held at The Presidential Banquet Center off of David Rd. in Kettering, and will begin at 5:00 PM. Check our new website (www.eteamz.active.com/daytontopsoccer) for directions! Once again, thanks to Sarah Todd and Linda Hamilton who are already working hard to get door prizes contributed. If you know of any generous businesses or organizations that might provide us with door prizes, approach them, or let us know and we will call them. We are also looking for a few more volunteers to help Sarah and Linda plan this family get together. Please let Sarah, Linda or one of us know if you’d like to help.

Schedule Notes: If it is raining, we will not practice or play. If you are unsure as to whether we will play or not, call the TOP Hotline @ 885-5126 for a recorded message. If a practice or game is canceled, there will be a message saying so, about two hours before the scheduled start time. (Please don’t call in the morning, we will not have decided yet). We heard reports about the machine not picking up on one of the early “rainy days” we had. If you have trouble getting through, we will post cancellations on the home page of the web site two hours ahead as well: www.eteamz.active.com/daytontopsoccer.
Remember- as shown on our schedule, we will begin at 6:00 PM on Wednesdays in October instead of 6:30 due to early darkness. (scroll down for more)

A big THANK YOU to our dedicated, enthusiastic coaches ( most do not have children in the program)!

Volunteers: We are again fortunate to have had so many helpful volunteers this season. We’d like to thank especially those who have come out more than once. We have a “core group” of “Buddies”, many from Incarnation School and Alter High School, and they have been very helpful! In addition to the “core group”, we have had a different soccer team volunteer as “Buddies” at every practice and game. Teams that have come out so far to help include several of the CUSA (Centerville United Soccer Association) boys and girls teams, the C.J. Women’s Varsity, the University of Dayton Women’s Varsity team, and the Centerville High Women’s Teams. Thanks to all of these people for helping. SPECIAL THANKS to CUSA for their strong ongoing commitment to our program and great volunteer support.

Sponsors: Thanks, too, to our sponsors that have made cash or other donations. We are sponsored by:
The Francis Crosthwaite Fund of the Dayton Foundation- We have once again received a wonderful, sizeable grant from this fund, which provides funding for uniforms, trophies, and more.
The Centerville Noon Optimist Club – Provided a generous cash donation for any program expenses, including uniforms, trophies, balls, etc. Many of our coaches, too, are Noon Optimist Club members.
Skelton Sports- Provided FREE SHIN GUARDS for all players,
Screen Works, Inc.- (Ron Witters)- donated numbering for back of uniforms, at no charge.
Soccer Plus (the store across from the Dayton Mall, Brody Buckholtz, owner)- provided special “at cost” pricing on adidas uniform jerseys.
Ohio South Youth Soccer Assoc. (OSYSA)- provided FREE WATER BOTTLES and paid US Youth Soccer registration fee for each player.

The cost for each player, without all of these great organizations’ and individuals’ help, would have been more than $50. The generous support of these organizations allowed us to provide the TOPSoccer experience at NO CHARGE once again in 2006. We thank them for their support!

Web Site! If you haven’t yet, visit our new website at www.eteamz.active.com/daytontopsoccer.
Thanks to Pete Kronbergs (Gabrielle’s father) for setting this up for us. After you go there, be sure to save the location as a “Favorite” and check it next summer for information about the upcoming 2007 season.

What About the Tournament? Each year for the past seven, the Cincinnati area TOP Soccer league has hosted a TOP Invitational Tournament that we participated in. This year, they decided to move the tournament up to early in their season. Since we started quite a bit later than they did, we simply were not ready to play in it (we did not have our teams set, did not have uniforms, etc.). We have invited the Cincinnati and North Dayton teams to come and play at our fields on Sunday October 1 at 4 PM (our regular time). Hopefully we will get a good turnout. Please welcome the teams from out of town that come to play.

Thanks, Parents- Please let your coaches or us know if there is anything you can suggest to make the experience more enjoyable for your children.
