Danbury Trojans: History

WHO ARE WE?
The Danbury Athletic Youth Organization (D.A.Y.O.) is a Non-Profit organization formed in 1978 to promote organized youth sports and build character in the youth of the Danbury area. Among the activities that D.A.Y.O. sponsors are T-Ball, Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Cheerleading.

D.A.Y.O.'s commitment is to provide the best possible guidance in order that we build together a better place to live, and through the use of sports, this is our way of communicating to our children. Hopefully our examples will be etched in their minds, so some day they too can pass it along.

The D.A.Y.O. Experience
Among the activities that D.A.Y.O. sponsors are T-Ball, Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Cheerleading. Over 1200 children in the Danbury area participate in D.A.Y.O. programs. D.A.Y.O. is operated by volunteers; the coaches, assistant coaches, team mothers, Bingo staff, commissioners, Officers of the Executive Board, and all the other people who help D.A.Y.O. do not receive any money for their time and effort. The programs are primarily funded through a weekly BINGO run by the organization and fun raisers by the team players.

D.A.Y.O. offers athletic programs for children ages five through eighteen. During the years a youngster is involved with our programs, he or she will grow both physically and intellectually. During these formative years, we are proud to offer support to the growth of these young people who will be leaders of tomorrow.
