Almost catastrophic @ Lanier !!!
Heat Race - 1st Place
Feature Race - 13th Place
Davey showed up @ Lanier riding his 3 race win streak and looking for more. He was fast in practice and that carried over to the heat race. The car was awesome as Davey won the heat race. The feature race would put Super D starting in the 8th spot because he won the week before. The green is out and it's all out Kaos in front of Davey. By the time the 1st caution flag flies, Davey had worked his way to 4th. On the next restart, he was working his way to 2nd when something broke in the steering box. The car shot up the track and bounced back down to the inside out of control. Davey said,"I had the wheel turned left but it went right and I was just along for the wild ride." After getting the car back to the shop and examining it, we discovered the problem. The steering rack had stripped the spline the goes into the universal joint of the steering shaft. With minimal damage, Davey is very lucky this wasn't a whole lot worse. We were just glad to get out of here with our shirts on.

Thursday Thunder Week 5 !!!!
Heat Race - 2nd Place
Feature Race - 2nd Place
It was a great night of racing @ the Thunder Ring as Davey came away with a solid 2nd place finish. Davey ran smart in the heat race and finished 2nd place. He would have started on the pole for the feature, but the Inversion wheel put him back to 6th on the outside. "I don't like that wheel". Oh well on with the race. On the start Davey was getting all he could and by the time the 1st caution flew he was running 3rd. Davey would push hard and made his way to 2nd but ran out of time chasing the leader down. He caught the leader going through turns 3 and 4 but could not make the pass. He gave the leader a little shove just to let him know he was there. Great jod SD !!!!

Davey Wins 3rd in a Row @ Lanier !!!!!!
Heat Race - 1st Place
Feature Race - 1st Place
Super D headed for Lanier on Saturday with lots of confidence from his Win @ Thursday Thunder. The track was hot and greasy and at times Davey looked like he was at Dixie Speedway on Dirt, during practice. He would start last in the heat race but wasted little time making his way to the front. Davey and Kyle Plott ran side by side for what seemed like an eternity, 5 or 6 laps never touching, thank goodness. What an awesome race this was between these 2 coming to the line side by side when the checkered flag flew. Davey ended up nipping Kyle at the line in a photo finish. Great job to these 2 boys who were so hard on each other last week.Thats the way you race !! The feature race would have Davey lining up in 8th spot because of his win last week. The green flag flies and the race is on. Davey had worked his way to 4th when a huge plume of smoke erupted from Plotts car going down the front stretch. Several cars would spin as a result of the oil but Davey made it through. Unfortunately, Plott would not be able to continue due to the oil fitting. It would have been a great race between these 2 as they have been racing each other for the top spot week in and week out. The restart had Super D lined up 3rd and Davey would look to the inside several times only to have the door shut by the 55 of Matthew Johnson. Finally coming off turn 2 Davey drove to the bottom and made the pass and never looked back on his way to his 3rd win in a row. Way to Super D !!!!!

Matthews Wins @ Thursday Thumnder !!!!!!!
Thursday Thunder #2
Qualifying - 1st Place
Feature Race - 1st Place
Super D was on his game and ready to roll this week. He blistered the track in qualifying and ripped off the fastest time. The feature race was a great battle with Mcintosh and Swilling and Davey swapping the lead several times. On lap 17 Super D set up an awesome pass and took it to Victory Lane. What an awesome race. This was Davey's 6th career win @ Thursday Thunder. Way to go Super D !!!!
Thursday Thunder #3
Qualifying - 1st Place
Feature Race - 9th Place
Davey would start 2nd spot for the week 3 Feature as the line-up was inverted for the top 2. On the start he was jacked up by the 3rd place car and fell back to go around 8th. He worked his way back up t around 4th on the white flag lap and was looking good. As he fired off into turn 1 the car just spun around on him as the oil fitting for the oil filter popped off. He gave it a heck of a run butcame up short finishing 9th spot. Way to go Super D !!!

Davey wins a wild one @ Lanier !!!!
Heat Race - 1st Place
Feature Race - 1st Place
Davey has ran well @ Lanier this year and continued his string of strong runs there this week winning for the 2nd week ina row. But it wasn't that easy. He would have to race this week without either of his parents with him. This would be the 1st time in his career to do that. But hewas in good hands with TJ Reaid serving as Crew Chief and Shaky Cuz checking the toe out. Davey won the heat race and was super fast. TJ and Shaky Cuz mde few adjustments and sent him out for the feature. Davey would have to start in the 8th spot because he won the week before.Around lap 4 or 5 there was a caution and, Davey was running 3rd. On the restart he got into the bumper of the leader and accidentally broke the bolt holding the bumper on the leaders car. The caution flag would fly and the leader would pit to make repairs. Unfortunately Kyle did not make iy back out before the green flag. Davey had no intentions of knocking the bumper off. On restarts the guys are all over one another and Davey was up on thewheel getting all he could and it was just unfortunate. The caution would fly several more times and even Davey would be sent to the rear for jumping the next restart. This put Davey right in the cross hairs of Kyle and he did everything he could to wreck Davey for the remainder of the race. It turned into who could wreck who from there on. Once Davey finally got away fom the madness, he ran down the leader and passed him with 2 to go and won the race. Davey did a great job keeping his composure and focusing on the race. He did however let his emotions get the best of him in Victory Lane making an unesasary comment about the race. He was pretty upset about the way he was raced.

Thursday Thunder Week 1 !!!!
Heat Race - 1st Place
Featue Race - 8th Place
The 1st week of Thursday Thunder started off OK as Davey won the heat race. After some autographs and the National Anthem it was time for the feature race. Davey would start 4th spot due to the inversion of the top 4 cars. The green flag waves and the race is on. Davey had worked his wa to 3rd and was looking for 2nd when the caution flag flies. On the restart going through turns 3 and 4 a car comes out of the infield and drills him in the side. He worked his way back around the car and the caution flag comes out again. As Davey was making his way off turn 4, the same car starts nailing him under caution and spins out while tearing the bumper off the car. Davey would have to pit for a new bumper. He would come back out just in front of the leaders in 17th place. Luckily the caution would fly again an let Davey catch up. On the restart, he would fly through the field and end up 8th at the finish. Way to keep your head on Super D!!!!!

Matthews Shakes Monkey Off Back And Wins @ Lanier !!!!!
Heat Race - 1st Place
Feature Race - 1st Place
Super D was looking forward to Lanier this week. He has had the fastest car for 2 weeks in a row with nothing to show for it. That all changed Saturday night as Davey led all but 1 lap on his way to victory lane. Super D was fast in practice and it carried over to the heat race. We made minor adjustments for the feature. Davey was driving the Hava-Tampa Special this week and was fast but looked good doing it too !!! The heat race was a fast race and Super D had to run down the leader as he and the 2nd place car were hard at each other. Once out front Davey set sail and cruised to victory. The feature had Davey starting on the pole. He led every lap until a late race caution with just a handful of laps left. Blake Jones got under Davey coming to the white flag. Davey ran a high line through 1 and 2 to get a good run down the backstretch and pulled under Jones in turn 3. They ran side by side through 3 and 4 without touching each other and Super D would put his foot into that CHAPMAN power plant to muscle his way to half a car lenght Win at the line. What an awesome finish. Way to go Super D and great job to Blake Jones on a great race!!! In Victory Lane,Davey said," It sure feels good to finish this race and it feels awesome to win it. Weve had some bad luck lately and I hope it's all behind us."

Reaid Motorsports @ ASA Matt Hawkins Memorial !!!!
TJ Reaid
Qualifying - 3rd Place
Feature Race - 21st Place (Accident)
Davey Matthews
Heat Race - 1st Place
Feature Race - 14th (Mechanical Failure)
Reaid Motorsports showed up @ Lanier National Speedway carrying the momentum of drivers TJ Reaid and Davey Matthews wins @ Watermelon last week. TJ would be running the RC Cola / Moon Pie ASA race in the Glenncast Ford and Davey would run the Fast-T-Shirts legend car.
TJ would be out 1st for practice in the Glenncast Ford. He would end up around 8th the 1st time out and would move up the charts as the day wore on. TJ and the crew worked hard during practice and Jody and Chris made awesome adjustments to make the car better. In the tight field for qualifying, TJ ran 3rd quick. Great lap Big Guy!! :) After the draw he would line up 5th for the Matt Hawkins Memorial. The race would start late but the action was quick. The first 69 laps went by really fast with many cars being lapped. TJ ran in the top 5 until 25 laps to go he started racing for 3rd spot. The caution would come out with TJ running side by side with the 92 car. On the restart the 711 car body slammed TJ in turns 1 and 2 knocking him up the track. He would maintain control of the car and got back up to the 711. Coming off turn 4 he pulled to the inside and the 711 turned left on him taking him to the inside wall and spinning him out. TJ wanted to let the 711 car know he didn't appreciate the move and went to give a little bump. After he delivered his message the other driver lost his something and drove his car completely under TJ going down the backstretch "Under Caution" and spun him out collecting several cars and destroying at least 3 of the top 5 cars. What a complete disrepect of equipment and a useless move. Needless to say everyone was dissapointed with the outcome. TJ looks ahead to the next GAS Race @ Anderson next week.
Super Davey was fast in practice and looked to be a contender. In his heat race he led flag to flag pulling away from the field to win. We made very few adjustments as Davey said the car was super fast. The heat race finish had Super D on the pole for the feature. The feature starts with Davey and the 99 car pacing the field. As the laps wore on Super D was building a huge lead. The caution comes out with 10 laps to go and Super D leading. They were having all kinds of problems with the restarts communicating with the drivers. On th next restart they came over the raceceiver and said no green flag but the flag was out so half the field went and half didn't so it was melee going into turn one. There was a big wreck in turn one. During the caution, Davey started having a problem with the power plant. He finally came down pit road to see what the problem was. Undoubtedly the magnetic pick-up stopped working and the motor quit. Unfortunately ending Davey's night after leading every lap to that point. Great drive Super D !!!!! See you @ Anderson Next Friday and Lanier On Saturday !!!!!

Reaid Motorsports Rocks The Melon !!!!!
TJ Reaid
Glenncast Chevy Gas Series Late Model
Qualifying - 1st Place @ 15.96
Feature Race - 1st Place Winner
Davey Matthews
Fast T-Shirts Legend Car
Heat Race - 1st Place YL
Feature Race-1st Place YL
Getting to the race track turned into an event of its own with all the traffic. Apparently, everyone and they're brother was headed to Florida and had the roads backed up all the way up I-75. After finally arriving at the Melon and getting everything unpacked, it was practice time.
TJ was first out with the Glenncast Chevy and "wow" was he fast. After a few quick adjustments by Jody and Chris he picked up another .2 tenths. He looked to be a contender for the pole position. TJ would be the 2nd car out and he blistered the track and the field with a quick lap @ 15.96. No one was even close. Awesome job TJ, Jody, Chris and Crew !!!
After TJ qualified it was Davey's turn to hit the track. The first practice out he was loose in and tight off. We made some adjustments to the car and he was much better for the second practice. The heat race was next and Davey would line up outside pole. Davey led several laps before relinquishing the lead to Jeff Haynie, a master. Davey would run right in his tire tracks and win his division finishing 2nd overall. The Feature Race had Super D lined up 3rd spot on the inside. The green flag flies and Davey stays right with the leader Haynie. They race hard all the way to the checkered flag. Davey looked to the inside several times but just couldn't make the pass and winds up 2nd overall but won his Young Lions division. Way to Go Super D !!!
Now it was time for the GAS Feature Race. After the inversion, TJ would line up 2nd spot on the outside. When the green flag flies he quickly drove around the outside to take the lead. TJ lead for 20 or so laps and then decided to save the tires for later on in the race. This was a good decision. There would be several cautions for drivers partaking in a swimming party in the lake off turn 3. With 50 laps to go and getting ready for a restart, TJ figured it was time to drop the hammer and the crew agreed. On the restart he reclaimed the lead heading into turn one. He would have to fend off several more restarts until about 25 laps to go when he pulled away to about a 10 car lenth lead and never looked back headed for the checkered flag. TJ had just won the Gas Series opening event in the Glenncast Chevy. What an outstanding job TJ. That was an awesome race by you and the entire Reaid Motorsports Team. Way to go TJ, Jody, Chris, Big Frank, Danielle, Lee, Angela, Devin, Hava-Tampa-Tony and Karen Reaid. Victory Lane never gets Old !!!!!!

2009 Season Opener @ Atlanta Motor Speedways Thunder Ring !!!
Heat Race - 3rd Place
Feature Race - 3rd Place
Super Davey was primed for the season opener on the Thunder Ring. The only trouble was, the car was not. Davey started 5th in the Heat Race but was hampered by a hood that was left unfastened and blocked his veiw for the whole race. He really had to drive blind and still managed to finish 3rd. The finish would put Davey starting 6th for the Feature race. The feature started off ok but on the 2nd lap a car spun right in front of Davey and he had to almost stop on the track to avoid contact. After taking serious evasive action to miss the spinning car, Davey settled back in around 5th and started working his way to the front. He would run down and pass a couple cars in front of him and finish 3rd. Davey said that something wasn't right on the car and after we got the car back to the shop Friday night we discovered the left rear trailing arm had worked it way loose and shifted position during the race. This really affected his lap times as the car was super tight . Despite the malfunction, Davey managed to salvage a decent 3rd place finish. It was certainly a dissapointment to Davey and the team as high expectations for the 2009 season opener were deflated a bit. Way to go Super D overcoming the car.

Sprint Cup Weekend !!!!!
Feature Race - 2nd Place
Winter Flurry Championship - 2nd Place
Georgia Winter Series - 3rd Place
Super D headed to Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend to run the final race of the winter series. Davey has overcome some tough breaks and looked to even things up at the Thunder Ring . A mechanical failure at Cordele and a punt by a competitor a few weks ago had Davey setting 12 points out of the lead in the Flurry. It was dejavue all over again as the breaks just didn't fall his way and he ended up 2nd. The race was run after the Camping World Truck Series race on Saturday afternoon. There would be no qualifying or heat races run, just a peel draw and run. Davey would line up 2nd spot on the outside and looked good going in to turn one until the car behind Davey way overshot the corner and drilled him in the left rear. After the spin they lined up and restarted the race again. This time Super D got down in 3rd spot and was looking good. The 2nd place car spun out and Davey had to almost stop to miss him and there would be no caution. Super D kept it going but lost ground on the leader. There were several more spins by other cars but no cautions would fly and Davey finished 2nd place. It will be nice to put this crazy Winter deal behind him and get the new season underway. Davey will be getting ready for the 2009 Season opener at Lanier on March 28.
