Daphne Strike Soccer Club: Coaches

Coach Gerardo “G” Flores - Coach “G” returns to Daphne Strike for his 2nd year as the Club’s Director of Coaching (DOC). Coach G came through the New Orleans Soccer Academy and went on to have an impressive college career at the University of Mobile. Currently he has completed his NSCAA National Diploma and has his Director of Coaching Diploma. During Coach G’s summer break, he will be attending the USSF “C” Course and the National Youth License course.  Along with assisting with each team at the Club, Coach G will Head Coach the U16 and U18 Girls this Fall and will oversee our College Advisory Program (CAP) along with other programs within the Club.

Coach Steve Morisani – Coach Steve Morisani is back for his 3rd season with Strike SC. He has brought a great deal of coaching knowledge and experience to our program. In addition to his duties with the Strike, he is an Alabama ODP staff coach. He holds his USSF National Y and D licenses as well as his NSCAA Advanced National and National Youth Diploma. He has helped tremendously at the academy level. He was a coach at Blast FC, high school, and recreational soccer in a career that began in 1994. During that time, it includes coaching stops in both Alabama and New York. Coach Morisani will be coaching the U14 Boys, U9 Girls, and help oversee the Mini Strike Academy program.

Coach Dean Logan – A Native of Freeport, Trinidad and Tobago, Dean joins Daphne Strike for his second season, bringing not only plenty of playing experience, but coaching experience as well. Having played at the highest level as a National team player, he came to Alabama in 2003 for a stellar college career at the University of Mobile. Coach Dean has coached at the following: Blast FC, University of Mobile, Mobile Bay FC, Alabama ODP, and multiple High Schools in our area. Dean holds his National D License and he will be pursuing his USSF C License this summer. Coach Dean will be coaching the U9-U10-U12 boys this Fall and will also be helping with the Mini Strikes.

Coach Bart Markel - Coach Bart returns to us after joining us in Fall 2012. Bart is from Enterprise, AL. He grew up playing for the Montgomery Streaks Soccer Club and was a quality player for the Alabama ODP program. A two-year defensive starter for the NAIA soccer powerhouse Auburn-Montgomery, a member of the 2007 AUM team that reached the NAIA Final Four and tabbed as an all-conference player in 2008. Coach Bart currently holds his D license and after this summer, he will have his USSF National Youth License. Coach Bart will be assisting with our Mini Strike Academy and head coach the U16 boys and the U18 Boys.

Coach Cheryl Edgar - Coach Cheryl joins us for her 3rd Season at Strike SC. Cheryl has also just completed her second year as head soccer coach for UMS-Wright girls program. She led the girls to winning their area and completed their impressive season in the Quarterfinals. Originally, from Edinburgh, Scotland, She has coached at the club level both here and in Scotland. She played soccer for several club teams from a young age. Cheryl came to America on an athletic scholarship to the University of Mobile. She was captain of the women's soccer program. Coach Cheryl holds her ‘E’ license and her ‘Early Touches Badge’ from the Scotland Football Association. Coach Cheryl will be coaching the U10 Girls this Fall and assisting in the Mini Strikes Academy.

Coach Adrian Rochofski – “The goalkeeper is one of the most important players on the field - they are the last line of defense and the first line of attack. To play the position well requires special skills and training”. Coach Adrian is joining us for his first season at Strike SC. Adrian is originally from Frankfurt, Germany. He came to the U.S. and attended the University of Mobile on an athletic scholarship. He was a standout Goalkeeper, having received plenty of honors throughout his career; he will be a great asset to our Club. Adrian will oversee the Goalkeeping Academy for all ages where he will conduct age appropriate sessions for each age group. 

Coach Roberto “Tito” Rodriguez – Coach Roberto, also known as Tito, will be joining the Daphne Strike SC for his first season. Tito was a fantastic High School and Club Soccer Player. He came through Blast FC and had an impressive high school career at Fairhope HS. Coach Tito is originally from Los Reyes, Michoacán, Mexico and brings a passion for the game that we are grateful to have. Coach Tito will be attending the E License this summer and is eager and ambitious to grow as a soccer coach. Coach Tito will be assisting a couple of teams this season, but will be head coach of our U9 White team in the Fall.

Coach Jaime Varela – Another addition to our Coaching Staff, Coach Jamie, brings a wealth of experience that you just cannot buy. Originally, from Barranquilla, Colombia, Coach Varela played his way up from the local youth level to the 1st division in Colombia. Coach Varela brings a playing background that we are excited to have, but not only does he bring the passion of a player to our Club, he brings nearly 15 years of coaching experience from coaching and organizing leagues in Miami to years of coaching within the Daphne Rec. program. Coach Jamie will be head coach of our U11 Boy’s team and will be a definite asset to Daphne Strike SC. 

Coach Paul Knapstein  - Coach Paul Knapstein is beginning his first season with Daphne  Strike. He is the head Varsity girl's coach at McGill-Toolen Catholic High School. "Coach K" has led the Lady Jackets to 3 consecutive Section Championships & the 2013 6A final 4. Coach Knapstein was named the Baldwin/Mobile County Coach of the Year by the Press-Register. He currently holds his USSF "E" license.  He will coach our U12 girls team and help with our Mini Strikes Program.

 Coach Brantley Spillman - Coach Brantley comes to us with a great deal of playing experience. He grew up playing in Atlanta for the Atlanta lighting where his Club team (U18 boys) were the first Club to win a National Championship for GA. He was part of the Georgia state ODP team and Region III player. He was fortunate to travel and play in France, England, Holland, and Costa Rica. He later went on to have an impressive college career at UAB. Brantley is enthusiastic about coaching and eager to get started with us at Strike. He will be coaching the U13 boys and the U14 girls.
