Our Mission

The objective of the Danville Junior Basketball League is to represent our community ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and reverence, so that our youth may grow to be finer citizens.  It is the league’s objective to provide an opportunity for improvement in basketball skills and a “team play” mentality to all players.

The purpose of the recreational league is to teach basketball skills and develop basketball players, not outstanding teams.  The success of our recreational league should be judged on the progress of individuals rather than a team’s win-loss record.  Each coach’s role is to develop the individual to his/her greatest potential through the teaching of fundamental skills.  A coach who diverts from the curriculum in order to win games, cheats both the players and the league.

DJBL Registration Deadline Now Passed

The October 31st deadline to register for the Danville Junior Basketball League's recreational leagues has passed.

Players wishing to register and participate may still do so, but they will be accepted on a space available basis and all registrations will be charged a $25 late fee.  Those wishing to partake in the Sports For All Kids program may do so as well, but the program does not cover the $25 late fee.

Once a registration form has been completed and paid with the late fee incldued, the DJBL will contact the family regarding available space in the league within a few days.  Every effort will be made to include those players who register late.  If the league is unable to accomodate additional players, the registration fee and late fee will be promptly refunded in full.

2014 DJBL Scholarship Winners Announced

The Danville Junior Basketball League recently awarded two $750 scholarships to outgoing Danville Community High School senior basketball players. Eligibility required the applicants to have participated in the Danville Junior Basketball League for at least one season during grades K-6, and to be a member of one of the Danville High School Varsity Basketball teams during their senior year. Applicants were further evaluated based on academic performance in high school and extra curricular activities. The 2014 scholarship winners were D.J. Shipley and Shawn Weir. The Danville Junior Basketball League wishes them, and all of the graduating seniors, good luck in their futures!
