Red Devils Win Championship In 6-4 Thriller
The Red Devils won the GISL Championship by defeating the SI Lightning 6-4. It's always tough to defeat a team 3 times in one season but the Devils proved they are tough enough. The Devils scored first when Ash trapped a throw from Hannah and turned and beat the keeper clean. Ash made it 2-0 with a steal and shot past the keeper. SI knew they were in a little trouble so the coach loaded up his front line. It worked because SI was able to score two goals to tie the game. This is where the Red Devils showed their resilience. After SI tied it the Devils scored when Kayla started a 6 player combination. The ball went from Kayla to Meredith to Crissy to Jess to Ashley and finally to Hannah for the score. SI was able to tie it again but not for long. Erin quickly stepped up from her sweeper spot to steal a pass. She carried it for about 10 yards and blasted a shot past the keeper from about 20 yards out. SI was not finished yet. They were able to tie it once again. At this point Ash put the Devils up for good by completing a hattrick with an assist from AVA. Tina iced it with a hard working goal off an assist from Ash. SI raised their game for the championship and we congratulate them for that. The Devils were able to rise to the task and finish the season undefeated. Great game and great season!! We now move outdoors for our JAGS season. Again congratulations to all the girls for a job well done!
