Red Devils Look Sharp in Philly
On a cold dreary Saturday in April, the Red Devils travelled down to Philly for the MAPS/ MSSL College Showcase. In front of many college scouts the Reds came away with a tie and a win. In the first game against the LMVSC Patriots out of Virginia, the Reds fell behind early on a wind aided goal by the Patriots. The Reds were able to tie the game before the half. The second half was scoreless but the
Red Devils were clearly the stronger side according to most sidleine observers.

As the snow began to fall the Reds took the field against the Laurel Comets, the #5 ranked team in Maryland. In probably their most dominating performance this season, the Reds completely shut down the Comets, coming away with a 1-0 win. The game was not nearly as close as the score. It was a very impressive performance for the Red Devils. Next Sunday the girls travel down to TCNJ for their Showcase Tournament.

Red Devils Win Beach FC Classic
Red Devils Champions Virginia Beach_2
The CWS Red Devils travelled down to Virginia Beach this weekend for the Beach FC Classic. The Red Devils opened up with the New England Eagles, the #8 ranked team in Massachusetts. The Red came out with a 3-1 victory in a very competitive game. After a 5 hour break the Reds faced Northeast United out of Conneticut. The long layover seemed to hurt the Reds who looked very sluggish. The game was not attractive at all but the Reds were able to come out with a 0-0 tie. That evening the girls and their families had a great time taking in all of the Virginia Beach attractions. With the sightseeing over, Sunday morning was back to business. The Reds opened up with the #2 ranked team in New Hampshire, Granite FC. The Reds came out with probably their best effort of the tournament while winning 1-0. Their last opponent was the host team, Beach FC who are ranked #8 in Virginia. The Reds needed a win or a tie to take the tournement. Although Beach FC hadn't yet won a game, they were clearly the most talented team the Red Devils would face. Battling a very stiff wind and an excellent possesion game by the Piranhas, the Red Devils went into the half down 1-0. In the second half the Reds moved an extra striker up top to try and generate some offense. It seemed to help as the Reds clearly had the better of play and were able to strike for the tying and go ahead goals. In the last 5 minutes the Piranhas upped the pressure and were able to tie the score. The game ended 2-2 which was a very fair result. Over the weekend the Red Devils faced 3 teams who were ranked higher than them and where able to come away undefeated. All in all it was a great way to start the season. The Red Devils have 2 JAGS games next weekend and travel to Philly for the MAPS College Showcase Tournament on April 8. Congratulation girls on a great win!

The Reds then faced the Mt Laurel Dragonladies in the afternoon match. The Reds led most of the way but the Dragonladies scored late for the 1-1 tie. On Sunday the Reds had to defeat a very tough Toms River United Gold Tide team for the championship. In a thrilling match the Reds were able to defeat TRSA 1-0. It was a weekend of excellent soccer. Congratulations to all four teams

Red Devils Lose Heartbreaker in State Cup Final
The Red Devils opened up the game against Kinnelon by putting immediate pressure on their backline. The Reds took on 1-0 lead when Jess found an overlapping Ashley with a beautiful through ball. Ash put it away for the lead. With only 10 seconds remaining in the half Kinnelon converted a Red Devil turnover to tie the score. The Reds were dominating possesion in the second half but could not find the net. Unfortunately with under five minutes to go, Kinnelon was able to break through for the winning goal. It was a great run for the Red Devils. The Reds played well enough to win but today that wasn't to be. We are all so proud of the girls and have no doubt that they will be back next year and will not be denied. Congratulations, girls , on a great State Cup run!

Red Devils Win to advance to State Cup Finals
The Red Devils defeated the New Egypt Hurricane, 5-4, in pk's to advance to Sundays State Cup final. The Reds controlled play but took a foul deep in their own end. New Egypt was able to convert the direct kick for a 1-0 lead. The half ended 1-0. In the second half the Reds again dominated play and were able to knot the score on Tina P's cross which Ava cleaned up for the tie. After 80 minutes of regualtion and 30 minutes of ot, the score remained 1-1. On to the dreaded pk's. Ashley, Erin, Julia, Ava and Meredith were perfect giving the Reds the win. Congrats to New Egypt on a hard fought game. The Reds will travel to Bordentown Sunday afternoon for the State Cup Finals. Go get em girls!!!

Red Devils V Bergen Blackhawks
Saturday, May 12
Red Devils Advance To State Cup Semis
In a tightly contested match, the Red Devils defeated the Riverdell Blackhawks ,2-1, to move into the State Cup Semi-final round. The Reds took the early lead on a direct kick from Kelley. Kelley served the ball into the box and Ashley beat the keeper to the ball for a header goal. The Blackhawks tied it in the first half after their own direct kick. The half ended 1-1.

The Reds put constant pressure on the Blackhawks in the second half. The pressure paid off when Julia freed herself up in the box. Julia's shot was handled but Jess was there to clean it up and score the winner. The Blackhawks upped the pressure late in the game but the Red Devils midfielders and fullbacks continuously turned back the Blackhawk attack. The Blackhawks did manage one breakaway but our keeper stopped the point blank shot for the game saver. The Reds will travel to Bordentown for the semis and finals on the first weekend of June. The Reds semi-final opponent will be New Egypt. Good luck girls and bring home that title!

Red Devils Defeat PARMA Girls In State Cup Opener
The Red Devils defeated the PARMA girls 2-0 in todays opening State Cup action. The Reds started slightly flat and allowed PARMA to put some pressure on. About halfway through the first have the Reds started to get into the flow and put alot of pressure on PARMA. The first half ended 0-0. The Reds really upped the pressure in the second half and created many scoring opportunities. Their speed and strength was just too much for PARMA and the Reds were able to score two second half goals. They had many more scoring chances and could have very easliy scored two or three more goals. PARMA was able to put a little late pressure on the Reds but the girls held off the late surge. The Red Devils will be play the winner of the Riverdale/Ewing game in the next round. Congratulations to both teams on a hard fought game.

Red Devils Ranked in State
In the most recent state rankings the Red Devils were ranked # 10 in NJ. Congratulations.
