Hello from your Head Coach Gene A. Ware, My staff in 2009 will be Coach Keith Morris -Kieth is a former player of mine and is volunteering for the second year as a coachin our Conference, Coach Tracy Warner is coming to us from Flag football, and Coach Jay McKee joins our staff -he has a great deal of youth coaching experience in many sports and as a soldier in the US Army he will bring something special to our conditioning and disiplin.

ROSTER REQUIREMENTS- YOU MUST LIVE IN THE SOUTHERLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL AREA. COMPLY WITH JPW AGES AND WEIGHTS, FILL OUT ALL REQUIRED CV POPWARNER PAPERWORK, PROVIDE A COPY OF YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE (Proof of age) AND A COPY OF YOUR YEAR END REPORT CARD (proof of acedemic fittness).

Before Thursdays practice I asked all players to try on and make sure they had everything they needed  in order to dress in fullpads for practice Saturday August 15th. All players on our roster have provided everything they need to be on the team.

In full pads our practice days in - August are... The 15th @ 9, 17th @ 6, 19th @ 6, 20th @ 6, 22nd @ 9, (if for any reason any of those practices must be cancelled we will practice on the 23rd at 2:00 - On the 24th @ 6, 26th & 27th  @6 and the 29th @ 9. (if for any reason any of those practices must be cancelled we will practice on the 30th at 2:00 -The 27th and 29th are subject to change due to a controlled scrimmage at STAB vs the Redskins before the end of the month.

COACH WARE WAS THE FOUNDER OF THE CENTRAL VIRGINIA POP WARNER FOOTBALL CONFERENCE, PAST PRESIDENT AND SERVES AS A CURRENT DIRECTOR YOUR HEAD COACH OF THE 2009 JPW STEELERS SHOULD BE ON TOP OF WHATS GOING ON IN THE CONFERENCE.

Short Sprints and distance running will get you ready for practice in August. A few push ups and sit ups each night before bed will help you get ready for the conditioning practices held the first two week in August. The players that work on conditioning in April, May, June and July will stand out at practice in August.

Our Steeler team is getting close to being full. We have a maximum roster size of 30 players to insure quality playing time and we feel the quality of instruction may suffer with a roster any larger than 30. We wish we had room for everybody but we feel the Central Virginia Pop Warner Football Conference is doing everything they can to expand or grow this program at a managable pace.
