Our Joe Bingler Division the Pop Warner JR PEEWEE Division is named after "The Coach" in Central Virginia. Named to pay respect to a man dedicated to his family and his community. For those that know Coach Bingler - you have to mention he is a good husband, his kids would agree a great dad and grandfather, he is know by so many for his works as a REALTOR in Central Virginia, a former teacher and administrator and You would have a hard time making a list of all the people that know him as Coach!Coach Bingler is a football and baseball coaching legend in Charlottesville - from the old Lane High School days. He was the first AD at Western Albemarle High School. We could not list all of the reasons we recognized Coach Bingler. But the number one reason we named this division after Coach Bingler was we wanted the Joe Bingler name associated with our Conference. We know if we run things the way Joe would we will have continued success.
Carl Deane DIV (JM)
Our Carl Deane Division is for our student athletes weighing at least 85 lbs.but are under 135 pounds and under 115 pounds for 13 year olds. This age group needs to be preparing for future high school football learning to improve on the fundementals of the game - Most parents prefer this program rather than allowing there 11,12 or 13 year old to play middle school ball with unlimited weights.
For ages 10, 11 & 12 that weigh at least 85 pounds but no more than 135 and 13 year olds that weigh at least 85 but no more than 115 pounds.
In every community in America there are or were key people that helped the youth sports programs we enjoy today get a start. In Central Virginia we believe Carl Deane could was one of those community leaders. Founder of the Downtown Athletic Store he played a big part in helping youth football and baseball in the area. Carl Deane is no longer with us but his family and his business still play a huge role in helping the youth sports organizations in Central Virginia secure the things they need to make youth sports in our area very special. In memory of all he did for youth sports - in Central Virginia the Pop Warner Junior Midget Division will be known as the Carl Deane Division.
FRANK KESSLER DIVISION (PEEWEE) NOT OFFERED in 2009
In Central Virginia we don't mean any disrespect to Pop Warner but we plan to rename each division as they develop in CV. Our first selection was easy. The late Frank Kessler was a UVA graduate. He played football at the University of Virginia. Mr. Kessler was a student of business and a great teacher. He founded Central Virginia's most successful real estate company, Real Estate III. He coached youth football in the area and did many wonderful things for our community. As a developer he brought big ideas back to Charlottesville. He made dreams come to life and planned communities like Forest Lakes and Glenmore . Above all Frank was known for keeping his word and doing things right. Under promise and over deliver. If he built it he wanted the best quality - no cutting corners. He paid attention to every detail. When he did something it was a win, win situation. We want our Football Conference to be known for those qualities. As we grow each of our divisions will be named after community leaders in Central Virginia.
9, 10 & 11 year olds that must weigh at least 70 pounds but no more than 115 and for 12 year olds that weigh at least 70 but no more than 95 pounds.
THE FIRST YEAR THE CENTRAL VIRGINIA POP WARNER PROGRAM OFFERED TEAMS IN CENTRAL VIRGINIA WE OFFERED FOUR TEAMS THE FOUR TEAMS WERE IN THE PW DIVISION AND OUR CHAMPIONS THE CV STEELERS WENT ON TO WIN A REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYED ON THANKSGIVING WEEKEND IN NORTHERN ALABAMA.
MAC MCDONALD DIVISION (MITY MITES) NOT OFFERED in 2009
The Pop Warner Mity Mite Division in our Central Virginia Football Conference has been named the MAC MCDONALD DIVISION by the Conference Directors. Mac McDonald, Director of Broadcasting for Cavalier Sports Marketing, the play-by-play voice of the football and men's basketball teams. "The Voice of the Cavaliers" Mac is quick to help in the community and his fund raisers have done so much for so many. That is the kind of take action character we want to instill in our CV Pop Warner Participants. Mac is a five-time Sportscaster of the Year recipient and has twice been voted "Best play-by-play man in the ACC" by the ACC Sports Journal. McDonald also received the Superior Sports Coverage Award from the Associated Press for five consecutive years. Most youth organizations today depend on generous contributions from the community. We feel our participants could learn a lot from Mac and we feel those lessons will be important in their futures. Take action, get involved, be a team player those are Mac MacDonald traits. The lesson we try to teach every child is that football is just a game. But playing the game teaches us so much, being a part of the team, friendships, pushing and learning about yourself a list of things that goes on and on. Mac does more than announce games he helps each of us get close to the game. He makes fans feel like they are a part of the team. Mac MacDonald is an exceptional role model for our players.
The MAC MCDONALD Division is for 7, 8 & 9 year olds. You must weigh 45 pounds but can not exceed 90 pounds. We do not offer any Teams in the MAC MCDONALD DIV. at this time but the CV Pop Warner Football Conference would entertain groups interested in finding the right coaches and raising the money to make it happen in Central Virginia. League plans are to offer this division in 2008.
CV POP WARNER ASSOCIATIONS
The following Associations are a part of the Central Virginia Pop Warner Football Conference. Please contact Gene A. Ware Conference Commisioner "Now that the AAPWA is up and running well every year it is time for me to develop the surrounding Associations. I hope to see at least the Fluvanna (FPWA)and Madison County Pop Warner Associations (MPWA) offer teams in 2010, OPWA Orange County and LPWA Louisa County offer teams in 2011 and Nelson, Amherst and Buckingham Counties follow in 2012. AAPWA -Albemarle Area Pop Warner Football Association, MPWA - Madison County Pop Warner Football Association, OPWA - Orange County Pop Warner Football Association - LPWA - Louisa County Pop Warner Football Association, FPWA - Fluvanna County Pop Warner Football Association, BPWA - Buckingham County Pop Warner Football Association and NPWA - Nelson County Pop Warner Football Association. As these Asociations are established each Association will determin the best age brackets to offer in there area. As long as there is a total of at least four teams offered by the Conference Associations in that age bracket or arrangements are made with neighboring Conferences to offer each weight class three opponents for the season - playing each other twice - a playoff and a championship in each weight class. ye the year 2012 I look for most of Virginia to offer a Conference or a League giving every county in Virginia at least the option to offer Pop Warner to the kids in every Virginia county.
