Question: What is Fall Ball?
Answer: Fall Ball is a recreational and instructional baseball and softball program hosted by District 5 and Canyon View Little League, open to players who will be little league age 7 through 16 in the upcoming Spring 2012 season (age as of 4/30/2012 for baseball and 12/31/2011 for softball).

Question: What are the Fall Ball Divisions?
Answer: Fall Ball baseball is comprised of instructional and competitive divisions:

Baseball Instructional Divisions

Ages 8-9: “Minors B” – Player Pitch
Ages 10-12: “Majors A”

Question: When is the season played?
Answer: Typically, Fall Ball games begin on Tuesday, September 6th and runs until Saturday, November 5th. The exact schedule will be released by District 5 after all teams have been registered.

Question: How are teams formed?
Answer: For Canyon View LL, teams are formed by the Managers and coaches and not by the league. If players have not been asked by a coach to play on their team, CVLL will try to get them placed on a team in their age group/skill level. Since the league is instructional (standings are not kept), try-outs and drafts are not held for Fall Ball.

Question: When are teams formed?
Answer: Teams are currently being formed by volunteer Managers and Coaches and will continue until about mid-August.

Question: When/where do teams practice?
Answer: Practices usually start around mid-August.  Practices are scheduled by the team Manager & Coach and are usually held at Mehl Park.

Question: When/where are games played?
Answer: Games are usually played on a weeknight at 6:30pm and on Saturdays, typically between 8:00am and 7:30pm. Games will be played on several different fields around district 5 but many games will be played at Mehl Park. Games typically start after Labor Day.

Question: What does my player need to provide?
Answer: The team will make arrangements for uniforms, bats, balls, batting helmets and catchers gear. Players are expected to bring their own fielding glove, baseball pants and cleats. Only Little League approved bats may be used in Fall Ball.

Question: How much are the fees?
Answer: Since the coaches are responsible for providing uniforms, baseballs umpire fees and park LL registration fees, the actual fees for Fall Ball are varied.  You can expect the fee to be somewhere around $100.

Question: How is Fall Ball different from the regular Spring Season?
Answer: The purpose of Fall Ball is simply to offer an "off season" league for players who want to keep their skills sharp. Fall Ball is instructional and more developmental and relaxed with a specific focus on allowing those players who are graduating to the next level a chance to experience and practice the skills that will be expected of them in the following spring season.
