Parent's Code of Conduct
Parent's Code of Conduct
CVIBL is dedicated to our young player learning baseball skills, developing pride
and confidence, displaying good sportsmanship, enjoying playing the game. Wining
should be seen as “we did well this time.” And losing should be seen as “we’ll do better
next time.” To achieve these goals, we call on parents to set an example for the players
by observing the points below:
1) Use positive language when calling to the players, like “good eye” or “good swing” to
a batter and “nice play” to a fielder.
2) Refrain from shouting advice about batting or fielding to player during the game.
The players can get tense and anxious with too many adults correcting them. We
entrusted the team manager and his assistants to coach the players during the game,
so let them do their job.
3) Encourage your child to play by the rules, and when players “do their best” during
the game, that’s just fine. At this age, good effort and teamwork are more important that
victories.
4) Refrain from heckling, distracting, or criticizing the other team’s player during the
game. You wouldn’t want them to do that to your child.
5) Be patient with the umpires about their calls. The plate umpires are young people
just learning the skill.
6) Swearing or profane language is not allowed in the vicinity of the playing field. Show
respect to the other team’s players and their parents watching the game.
7) League rules forbid the use of tobacco or alcohol in the vicinity of the playing fields.
Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted either.
8) If you have a comment or complaint about a manager, an umpire, a procedure, or
other matter, make it known following the game. There is usually a CVIBL Board
Member in the vicinity of the playing field who will listen to you.
Or you may e-mail the Board President, Robert Cardenas, at president@cvisportsleague.org
