Castro Valley Independent Baseball League: Tournaments

Shortly after the  Spring Baseball Season begins, selected managers are given permission by the league to begin forming teams that will play after the regular season is over and usually before the Summer Baseball Season begins.

These teams are formed with players that try out for the 10 to 14 player rosters and pay an addtional fee to play at outside locations such as Fremont National Youth Baseball 4th of July Tournament, Independent Baseball Golden Plate and Golden Bat Series with Floresta Little League and other tournaments that the managers believe will be fun and beneficial for the kids.

Keep your eyes and ears open for annoucements and check the website often.  This opportunity is for players (8 to 16 years generally but some exceptions are made) wanting to continue to play after the Spring Season and at a slightly higher competitive level.

These players must try out to make the team and there is an additonal fee of between $10 and $50 per tournament to play.

Your CVI CRUSHERS (9U Tournament Team) was in action this last weekend at the Tracy Sports Complex.

The boys played well but lost a heartbreaker championship game to the Hard90heat baseball academy from Sacramento 4-3 in the bottom of the 6th.

They beat Monterey Bay 7-3, Bay Valley Bombers 13-1, & Norcal Titans 3-2 in the semi-final to reach the championship game.

So far the Crushers have played in three tournaments grabbing 2 second place finishes and 1 first place finish.

Way to go Crushers !!!!!!!

Your CVI Crushers took 2nd place in the MONSTER Elimination Tournament in Manteca (July 25-26th).

They finished with 3 wins & 1 loss (to an undefeated team out of San Jose).

Come on out and root for CVI's 16U Tournament Team aka CV ELITE as they participate in the USSSA BASEBALL Wooden Bat Tournament at the Twin Creeks Sports Complex in Sunnyvale.

They will participate in two games on Saturday (7/25) : 215pm & 430pm

UPDATE for July 25th - Two great games, two tough losses ...... your CV ELITE team played back to back games today (only a 5 minute break between games) and came out on the short end of two very close contests.

Well the boys from CVI went down in defeat today in another close game, 5 - 3 to the DirtBags ..... but all in all the boys played a great 3 games series.

Thanks to Coach Nick, Coach Jim, Coach Rick, & all the players for all their hard work and for representing CVI so well ....... Great Job CV ELITE !!!!!

With their 3 wins on Saturday, CVI is seeded #2 and have earned a first round bye in the semi-finals on Sunday!!!

This was an extremely tight game, with a score of 0 - 0 after 4 innings. Top of the 5th, Rays scored 1. Bottom of the 5th, CVI came back and scored 2 runs. CVI held them in the 6th to no runs, and claimed the victory.

CVI now advances to the State Championship game at Manteca BLD. Game time is 2:15.
