Welcome to the Castro Valley Baseball League
Castro Valley Independent Baseball League -- often referred to as CVI -- is dedicated to providing an opportunity for kids ages 5 through 18 to play baseball and since 2008 Flag Football has been added.
Being an independent league, CVI has no residency requirements and therefore draws from Castro Valley, Hayward, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, and other nearby cities. The goal of the league is to provide a positive atmosphere that provides kids the opportunity to participate in a team sport and interact with other players. All players have an equal chance to play amongst others within their skill level and learn the game of baseball and flag football. Most importantly, everyone has fun.
CVI has four locations for games and practice. Canyon Middle School is utilized for the Senior, Intermediate, A, B and C Divisions, Strobridge and Marshall School are used exclusively by the Junior divisions for the baseball programs, Marshall School will host most of the Flag Football games.

End of season and our time...
Dear Managers, Board Members and CVI Families,
Having just returned from our 10th All Star Day at CVI, as always, I am always sad to see the season come to an end. Today's games proved to be just as exciting and enjoyable as the first and the many in between.
Over the past few years Diana and I have been very fortunate to meet many wonderful families. Not just the ones that happened to be on our team but throughout the years we have met many we now call friends.
What does this have to do with baseball? In some other leagues, perhaps nothing...at CVI, I believe it is what all of us have worked so hard to create, build and cherish. As simple as our motto might be of "Family Fun and Baseball", for Diana and our family, it has meant a decade of hard work and hope that we have done our very best to live up to that standard.
Today, before the beginning of the A Division Games, I shared a story with the players about a day when my oldest son Sean and I happened to be driving down Alana towards Marshall Fields. It was a sunny summer day during the week, there was a slight breeze and no games. All we could see were the open fields and picnic tables under the shade of the tree that I once had thought of cutting down...what was I thinking?
Sean turn to me and said "those we the best days of my youth".
While Sean's perspective was based on his still young age, it was important to Diana and I we were able to help our son look back on the time of our involvement at CVI and think about it as we do..."it has been the best days with our kids".
When we began on the Board at CVI we did so with a plan that included many visions of what we wanted for CVI. Part of that plan also included that when our then baby Ryan was 12 years old and finished at Marshall Fields, we would move aside and let the next generation with bigger and better plans take over for CVI. Ryan will be 12 years old next season.
Over the next twelve months I will be working closely with the board to make sure that the transition is as smooth and seamless as possible.
I promise not to be a "lame duck" President. I also promise to put the same passion over the next 12 month's we did when we began....this time next year will be Diana's and mine last All Star Game as Board Members and Sean's, Evan's (the dearly loved but often overlooked middle son) and Ryan's last game at Marshall Fields as a family. We hope to make it the best.
See you at the fields...
