2008 MID-PENN CHAMPIONS!!!!
Last night, few people thought that Cumberland Valley had a chance at the #1 seed in the Mid-Penn. There were whispers of luck in their win against Cedar Cliff, there were hints of skepticism of their true talent...but the Lady Eagles PROVED THEM ALL WRONG! The Cumberland Valley Lady Eagles did not get lucky, the refs did not decide the games, the other teams did not lay down an egg....no, the Lady Eagles played awesome volleyball. They played inspired volleyball, they played MID-PENN CHAMPIONSHIP volleyball.
The first match of the seeding playoffs last night at Big Spring HS, pitted Barrick vs. Barrick. Twice before this season, the Rams of Central Dauphin slipped by the Lady Eagles. Not last night, not against this team. The Lady Eagles frustrated their hitters trying to go down the line and Libero Jenna Orner dug everything sent her way. The block was huge and the Ram dinks were not effectual against this determined Eagle team. Our hitters came out big dishing out kill after kill and spreading out the glory evenly amoungst them all. It was a wonderful thing to finally witness and, sorry dear....it felt good.
The emotion and energy carried over into the finals against Carlisle....once again, a team that had beaten the Eagles twice during the regular season....but the regular season is over and the playoffs are all that matter and the Lady Eagles once again, left it all on the court in a shut-out of their rivals. The Lady Eagles commited few errors as they served tough, played defense like pros and frustrated a tired and emotionally worn Herd team. The result was the Mid-Penn Championship and satisfaction of games well played.
Congratulations ladies....you not only earned this title....you deserve it.
