11/8/09: Explosion girls win the Abronzino B bracket with a 7-2-1 record, 17 goals scored to only 3 conceded. The girls started out the season in dominating fashion, winning all 4 games before losing 2 players to long-term injuries and going winless over the course of 3 games with a short-handed roster of 12 players. But the girls stepped it up, finishing the season with 3 consecutive victories. The last game of the season was against a very good Juventus La Fenice team, who would have won the league title with a tie. Explosion girls scored two goals in the last 10 minutes to win it 3-1 and gain the league title. The team will get promoted to the Abronzino A bracket next season.

We will continue playing indoor soccer and futsal until our 3 high schoolers return for normal training in anticipation of State Cup 2010.

9/9/09: Explosion starts the fall season in the middle division of the Abronzino league. This will be a rebuilding season for us, having lost our leading scorer to a family move, and our starting center mid to an ACL injury. On the positive side, the girls have been getting better and better, as evidenced by their success at the ODP level. Of the 8 who tried out in May, 7 were chosen to the initial '95 and '96 rosters: McKenzie, Adriana, Caeli, Jahkya, Sydnie, Hannah, and Katie. Jahkya and Hannah were selected for the final 18-player '96 roster. Congratulations to all 7 girls, and good luck Hannah and Jahkya on ODP play dates!

11/23/2008: Explosion takes third place at District Cup Silver division. The girls conceded a single goal in their first game, and that was enough to knock them out of the championship game. They won the next 3 games with a combined score of 5-0, taking third place for a second year in a row. Over our last 12 games, we have a record of 8-2-2. Next up: first round games of 2009 State Cup the 3rd weekend in January in Fremont.

8/24/2008: Explosion girls bring home the first place trophy from Magic Cup 1. Playing 3 games with only 12 girls, and the final with 13, they battle 4 worthy opponents, and come out on top of the Gold Division. Next up: Abronzino league, and the qualification round of Norcal State Cup.

6/11/2008: Explosion is looking to add 2-3 girls to our roster for fall 2008. We were a CYSA Association Cup finalist in 2007, and reached the State Cup sweet 16 in 2008. Our two qualified coaches focus exclusively on the Explosion. Our head coach/trainer holds an NSCAA Advance National Diploma, equivalent to a USSF B license. We believe our team is unique not only for the athletic accomplishments of our girls, but also for the strong camaraderie on the team. 1/20/2008: Explosion continues its hot streak by winning its bracket at State Cup in Hanford with a 0-0 tie followed by 2-1 and 6-0 wins. Next up for us is a knock-out round match against PAC United: 9am, Febuary 10th, Morgan Hill field #6. Above is a picture of the girls after their last game in Hanford.

We are holding try-outs for U12 girls (born after 7/31/1995) on Sat-Sun 12/8-9 at Fammatre Elementary http://tinyurl.com/zd3se 10am-12noon. If a player can only make one of those dates, she can join one of our regular practices Mon/Wed 12/10 and 12/12 at Mise Park http://tinyurl.com/3xzygv 6-7:30pm. We are planning the try-out for both a class 1 team and a class 3 team. For the class 1 team, we would like to add 2-3 girls for our State Cup run in January, and for the 2008 spring and fall seasons. The class 3 team will be a new team. 11//18/2007: Explosion ended its fall season with a 3rd place showing at the District Cup U12 B Division. The girls won 3 games (including one over the eventual 1st place team) and lost 1. Over the course of our last two tournaments and the second half of the Abronzino league, we had a 6-4-3 record, concluding our first class 1 season on a high note. Next for us is futsal and State Cup. We will hold open try-outs soon to add a few players for State Cup and next year.

8/28/2007: CV Explosion is starting our first fall season as a class 1 team, U12 age group. All 15 girls who started with us in the spring season of last year as a U10 team are returning, as well as a welcomed addition of a 16th player who will primarily play in goal. We will participate in the second division of Abronzino league, and will go to 4 tournaments. Check the Schedules tab for an up-to-date schedule of games.

01/28/2007: Wow!!! CV Explosion made it to the Northern California Championship in the Association Cup. On this mysteriously foggy and beautiful day in Danville, our girls gave it their all, but lost to Rocklin 0-2. Congratulations to our girls for their accomplishments -- 2nd place in Northern California!!!!

11/18/06: Explosion closes out the fall season by winning the top division in the Delgado league. The ladies finished the season by winning 8 games in a row, scoring 18 goals and conceding only 2 goals in that streak. The following weekend, we won our first game in the District Cup, then had two heartbreak one-goal losses and did not advance. All in all, the team had a great year in winning the spring and fall leagues, championships in both U11 tournaments we entered, and even placing in a U12 tournament.

Looking ahead, we will compete in the Association Cup in Fresno in January followed by futsal in winter. We will start practicing outdoors in March to prepare for Class 1 soccer next spring and Abronzino league next fall.
